Default What If The Seattle Supersonics Don't Move And Stay In Seattle??? Hmmm.

What if this ownership group that now owns the Seattle Supersonics can't move the team to Oklahoma City because of reasons beyond their control??? How could this ownership make good with Seattle Supersonics fans knowing that the ownership didn't want to be in town in the first place??? How do the players feel not knowing their future location??? How could this ownership make good with fans in Oklahoma City knowing that they can't move this team to Oklahoma City because of reasons beyond their control??? Let me know.

Simple, Clay Bennett would just cut costs to the bone and put out the equivalent of an expansion team until he can get out of the Key Arena lease in 2010.

Clay Clay is a bastard.

I remember the ESPN poll asking if you thought the Sonics would move to Oklahoma. I think every state in the Union thought it would move there...except Oklahoma that was at nearly 80% that they wouldn't get the Sonics. That makes me think it is a lot less likely than everyone really thinks it is.

He wouldn't be able to. Best off selling the team and starting an expansion or trying to steal someone elses team.

Clay Clay is a bastard.

this would be the worst case scenario-- but possible if the city does hold him to the end of the lease

it would be like a slow death--- bleeding a little at a time with more and more of our loyalty and energy for the team just being drawn out from our being....

best case would be if bennett would cave in and then sell the team to some local investors who then can pur together a better plan without the stress of some abitrary deadline

It's not really that hard to breath life back into a team if the people WANT to support a team.

Cleveland is a perfect example. After a decade of mediocre teams after Price, Nance, Daugherty, etc. left a jersey change, a young superstar, a lot of renovations and changes to the arena, and people are pumped again. A few years later we made the Finals.

I don't see anything positive about what Bennett is trying to do, even if you do live in OKC. If they're stupid enough to believe that Seattle doesn't want a team there, its my personal opinion, but I think they're just trying to look the other way.

There's nothing good about stealing someone elses team. I know from experience, since our good buddy Art Modell tried to take our Browns.
