Deron Williams to Jason Kidd
Besides their size they are very different players Kidd is much better at the fast break while most of Deron's game is in the halfcourt. Kidd is a great rebounder Deron has never shown signs of being an above average rebounder. Kidd can't shoot well Deron has a great J esp. mid-range.
Shaq plays more differently than people think. He doesn't run the fast break which Dwight does sometimes. Shaq is much better at offense and has many more post moves. Dwight has more agile. I guess you can compare Dwight to rookie shaq to a certain extant.
Morrison/bird - I always wanted to know what scout said morrison=bird
Dirk/Bird - They are both white, almost 7feet and can shoot the 3 with a good %. Thats it. We got Tim Thomas, Lamar Odom and Donyell Marshall. They are tall, can shoot the 3, but they are black so they are not like Dirk, Bird or Bargnani

it's much much more than that. Larry Bird could shoot the 3 but he wasn't a 3pt shooter if you watched him. it was the way they'd get position in the high post, get the ball, and then do something with it. both act as high post passers a lot, hitting cutters and open guys on the perimiter. both have multiple ways of getting closer to the hoop, Bird moreso than Dirk and Bird could post up much better. sorry but the way Dirk and Bird play is actually pretty similar. Bird can do a lot more of course. and was better in every way. while the comparison isn't really warranted, it's not horrible.
williams/boozer to sotckton/malone...just b/c they are on the same team and have really great chemistry doesnt meant they should be compared.
why not? they're actually quite similar. same coach, same system, same team, you've got a PG with wicked handles and first-rate passing ability with very good defense who is great in the halfcourt who runs the pick and roll all day with a 6'10 player with every scoring skill you could possibly want from a PF, who runs the pick and roll to perfection, hits every midrange jumper, and gobbles up every rebound.
I really don't see how this comparison can be avoided frankly.
