Default Washington vs Cleveland (2006 Playoffs)

I was just running through NBA TV and the Run was on talking about this series.

Beside being one of the best first round series in recent memory, how in the hell did Cleveland win? Gilbert and LeBron had a great battle.

I'm gonna do a count of how often the words "travel" or "travelling" are used in this thread.

Cleveland won because somebody had to. you can't have a tie.

anyway that's easily the most evently-matched first round series I've ever watched. every single game came down to 1-3 possessions except game 1.

as far as the travelling thing.... yeah, I mean he definitely did, there's no debating it, but oh well. at the time it happened I don't think I *****ed about it more than a cursory "well I'm a fan, this is the play we lost on, so I kinda have to" amount. I was much more angry at the Wizards' ****ty defense than I was about how Lebron exploited it for 2 layups. it was a great series, someone had to win, and this time it was the Cavs. that's it. I'll still never forget Gil matching Bron point for point the whole damn time, and that 3 he hit to send game 6 into OT will always be of greater significance to me than the free throws he missed that would have iced it.

Hopefully we get a rematch this year with both teams healthy, I think their playing styles lend themselves to a good series between the teams.
