Default Kobe Bryant - Atlanta Hawk?

I've heard a few rumors that Kobe Bryant may be headed to Atlanta in a blockbuster trade involving four different teams. I'm not sure of this claim's validity, but that would be something huh?

Kobe Bryant in the Eastern Conference would make things interesting; especially with what the Celtics recently acquired (being Ray Allen and KG to play along side with PP).

Please do not flame me over this; I simply heard it to the grapevine 'mum-k.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, since Kobe can now contend for the title with the Hawks.

Kobe's already got 3 titles, he doesn't need another one. :

I'm pretty sure he'd whip out that no-trade clause in a second on this one.

I heard a rumor that rumors quoted without links are generally worthless. But If LA took JJ, Marvin William, and Josh Smith for Bryant, I bet that the Hawks would actually be a good team. No contender, but 45 wins could happen.

Why would Kobe want to go from one crappy team to another? His prime years are wasting away, and to go to Atlanta of all teams would be a really poor decision on his part. Also, it's a smaller market with no sort of history or tradition whatsoever

If Kobe is traded it will be to the Bulls.

Ummmm hello, Pistol Pete started his career with the Hawks. Who else you ask? DING DING DING!!! Dominique Wilkins!

Kobe would love ATL too. One of the fastest growing metro areas in the country. The Hawks could be one of the biggest supported NBA franchises if they get their crap together.

Maybe Kobe wants out of LA. Maybe he wants to play for a team in a conference where the bar has been lowered (and been that way for some time now). Kobe needs change. The Lakers need change, and the Hawks certainly need change.

As strange as this trade may seem, it could happen.

One of the worst "rumors" I've heard in a while.

It doesn't make sense from ANY perspective except the hawks.

Lakers: They lose their marketing tool
Kobe: He goes to a WORSE team, with even WORSE management.

Hmm.. are you a hawks fan?

Nope, I'm a Kings fan.

I know the trade doesn't make much sense; but does it have to make sense? We've seen more engimatic trades before - why so quick to shoot this one down?

If the Lakers just wanted to clear out cap space, the Hawks have a number of expirers to send to the Lakers: Lorenzen Wright, Ty Lue, Anthony Johnson, Salim Stoudamire, Solomon Jones.

The Hawks could also include a couple of younger players, such as Josh Childress and Sheldon Williams. The Lakers would probably push for Josh Smith, but that is kind of redundant with Lamar Odom.

The Lakers would have to take Speedy Claxton's bad contract.

Doesn't seem likely though.

Maybe this is one of those Boston Celtics type deal, where the Hawks make a deal that takes them from the bottom of the league all the way up to contender status. They trade a bunch of their players for Kobe, Marion, and Kidd (or maybe AK47). This would definitely prevent fans from turning away from the NBA due to the ref scandal.

That's impossible, no way do they have the assets to get all of those guys.
