D'Antoni for those who haven't won it. Phil's reluctance to play anything other than the Triangle discredits him a bit in my mind. SLoan has had some chances and never cashed in. Byron Scott, Mo Cheeks, and Doc Rivers haven't done much.
stepped down from the front office after firing Larry Brown and declares he has the recipe for a championship team. "first get the All Star big man. we have that in Eddy Curry. then surround him with an all star caliber guard. who have several of those. then put in shooters around them. I have the formula for success and I will let my guys have some fun this year and loosen up, we will win some ball games!"
then look what happens...
he starts the Garden Brawl. he leads the Knicks to a disastrous record, has ruined what credibility MSG and the Dolan family have, and set a new low in for the angry African Americans who play the race card as a first option.
He plays a 7-8 man line-up which wears his players down in the playoffs, and he's shown no improvement in the defense over his tenure.
A lot of his game calling is questionable, at best, too. The Suns just have the talent to overcome it.
When D'Antoni focuses on defense and learns that it is better to have 55 regular season wins playing your key players less (see the Spurs) than winning 65 and running your players into the ground, he'll be instantaneously better.
