Default Hawks fans: Smith, Horford and M. Williams?

Who do you start at the 3 and 4, and who do you demote and why?

Personally I think they should run with:
CT: Zaza Pachulia
PF: Al Horford (he's been very consistent, and today he was a beast)
SF: Josh Smith (he's been working on his outside jumper)
SG: Joe Johnson
PG: Acie Law
6th man: Marvin Williams (can play 3 positions)

Gone burger: Shelden Williams (good college player, worthlesss NBA player. Can't grab a rebound to save his life. So much for the Emeka comparisons.)

Start Smith and Horford because they're good players. Bench Williams because he's not.

I'd trade Williams to the Raptors next offseason.

:)

For Calderon and a pick naturally.

Obviously start Josh Smith, and not Marvin Williams.

I'm hoping Calderon can play well again and that pick won't need to be included. Also this would hinge on Acie Law playing really really REALLY poorly.

smith should definitely be the starting SF... a lot of ATL fans INSIST that he's meant to play PF... but he's got the quicks to keep up with 3's and would be a matchup problem for anyone he played against save for an elite few.

and i also agree that horford should start...

That's what I'd try until it's been proven that I can't keep up on the glass. And if that happens, I'd try Sheldon at PF with Smith at SF. And I'd try to run at every opportunity.

Other than the fact that I'm not the biggest Acie Law supporter, I like this team. They've got a lot of fun pieces that fit together in all sorts of weird ways. They really need a coach who's got the pull to play around with them.

I agree that Smith could easily be effective at PF, but the kid's got such a unique set of skills that he'll be a freakin' nightmare matchup for most teams if the Hawks keep him at SF. I like the idea of Smith at SF, Horford as the starting PF, and Marvin Williams coming off the bench - this team's not exactly shooting for the finals, so why not give the rookies the chance to start over the guys who haven't proven much so far, ie Marvin?

And let's not forget Josh Childress, who's been a solid contributor for 3 years now. If anything, he deserves the chance to start a hell of a lot more than Williams does.

And I co-sign that they're in serious need of a better coach. This team has way too much talent to still be one of the worst squads in the league, time to bring in someone who has a clue how to use this roster. Enough depending on the lottery already.

Hawks need to trade Marvin for something useful while they can. Childress and Shelden can fill in the gaps easily for what he does.

Actually I proposed a trade of

Marvin
Zaza
Speedy
Childress

for

Jermaine O'neal
1st round pick

Then our Lineup would be

Law
JJ
Josh Smith
O'Neal
Horford

I could see that. I would like to see them use a piece or two to go after a PG. Wasn't it you throwing the Calderon proposals around. Him, Jarrett Jack is a guy they should take a shot at. I think somebody could get a good deal on Kyle Lowry.
They have some cheap pieces in bigs like Zaza or Sheldon, they can throw in a young/cheap PG in Law if they're offered a real upgrade at the position. And Childress is a pretty good wing with a specific shooting skill. Plus the vaunted Upside guy in Marvin.
They could build around JJ, Smith, and Horford, and still get a huge upgrade using some combo of those guys, and still have depth with whoever's left after any deal. It's an interesting roster.

Law isn't going anywhere. I am predicting that he will be ROY.

What is an "ATL fan"? I thought that was an extinct creature that died in the freezing cold of the AD (After Dominique) era...
