I think this would be a great trade for both teams because they will be getting players, which can realistically contribute in their new team.

Here are the Pros of this Trade.

Pros

1. Cavs can finally dump the massive contract of Larry Hughes, and in return they gain a future NBA ALL STAR in the caliber of the no.2 pick in the 2005 NBA Draft the highly touted Marvin Williams, whom i think would be a great player if he will play alongside Lebron because the Hawks have plenty of SF in their lineup, and i can see him playing the SG position in Cleveland.

2. With the Anderson Varejao contract talks dragging on -the Cavs are looking at other big men, especially a Center, which can provide some decent scoring and rebounding in the post season.

Lorenzen Wright holds career averages of 8.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

He is 32, and the 6-11, 255-pound center/forward played very few minutes last season. But being optimistic in this trade I think Wright can help our team defensively.

We have to figure out our PF/C situation. That's most likely going to kill us in the regular season against guys like Stoudemire, Howard and Yao Ming.

3. Atlanta Hawks will definitely gain a SG that can play tough defense, and he is good if he is playing with a high octane offense team. I personally think that Hughes would be much better if he got traded to the Hawks early this season because he has been a disappointment in the last 2 years, and it is much better if he can rejuvenate his career playing for the other team.

The Cavs get an upgrade at reserve center and Small forward to help with a championship run, while the Hawks get a decent SG, and an expiring contract next season.

Let this trade happen in the near future

They would be trading Anthony not Joe Johnson, and i can see Hughes would be a huge factor if he will play for the other team.

He will be best if he is playing alongside Joe Johnson, and the rising Josh Smith because he will be getting several touches and Field Goal attempts just like the way he played in Washington and in Golden States.

I just know that if some team were to trade with the Cavs, Hughes would play productive for them.

We must blame Mike Brown for this mess, and the GM for signing Hughes to a luxurious contract in 2005.

Coach Brown has not played to Larry's Game at all. He need to change our offensive strategy if we are going to get Larry involved in our offense. Larry clearly can't shoot jumpers, and be much more consistent while playing in this crappy offensive system implemented by Mike Brown, so we need to stop expecting him to do that.

Start doing some off the ball movement, running on the Open court, and making an open cuts into the basket, or else trading Hughes this month would benefit both teams, who are eager to improve this season.

They will be dumping 2 expiring contracts in the person of Johnson and Wright, while making sure that Al Hortford would earn his minutes once his contemporary Marvin Williams is traded to another team.

Hortford and Williams almost played the same identical position in Atlanta, and one must be traded so that the other one can grow, and become a much productive player for his team.

Al Hortford would be elevated to the starting lineup, and he will earn some major minutes this year, which means he might turn out to become the more productive player than Marvin Williams.

Williams would probably be given some contract extension by the Cavaliers management in the near future so no need to Fear that Lebron would bolt out once his contract is expired in the 2008-09 NBA Season because he will be having a phenomenal supporting casts that would guarantee him an NBA Finals appearance in the next 5 years.

Horford doesn't compete with Marvin for minutes. Marvin is a 3 and Horford started at center last game.

Hawks say no.

That's a good trade for the Cavs. I dont think the Hawks would get anything better in return but Marvin Williams could play LeBron's Pippen.

This is a reasonable and logical trade proposal compare to Hawkfan's Sonic-Hawks Fantasy Trade that he posted yesterday. So no need to start some name calling, and be back to our regular posting habit.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61319

If you are talking about Marvin Williams, and Lebron playing the same position that is no problem because we can actually shift Lebron James into the Shooting Guard position in our offense, which will cause some mismatch because Lebron can literally post up some of the smaller SG in the NBA, and he is also pretty fast and agile for his size, while Marvin Williams would probably play the number 3 spot, a much athletic version of Glenn Robinson.

SINCE WHEN DO TEAMS WANT TO DUMP EXPIRING CONTRACTS?

and no, Horford and Willams don't even play alike or the same position at all, try again.

How can a team 'dump' two expiring contracts when they are expiring? It's longterm contracts that get dumped and that's exactly what the Cavs are doing here while getting a player who is bound to be very solid. No way Atl takes the cap space and the gamble that Hughes will do anything decent.
