first let me say that I really like treads like this.
Greg, good job. Very interesting to contemplate if the math works.
From the Lakers perspective, I would do it. I don't think the deal works very well for TWolves. If they get rid of Garnett, then they should rebuild with young up-coming players.
G.A. here's an simple one. Would you trade Mihm and Smush for Quinton Richardson (the Knicks want to get rid of him since he was a big Larry Brown supporter)? The math almost works.

I would love to get Q only problem is I like luke walton. If we somehow could add walton to the package and get David Lee in return or a small contract. I would do it but only if we send one of our sfs.
lakers would be better tradin someone like odom n kwame to hawks for johnson and smith. it seems like lakers are waiting for odom 2 become like pippen, but he is more like a kukoc. he is also very over payed
as for the q-rich thing, i have him in a better trade deal, though the money might not add up.

qrich for childress
francis m.williams
which Francis?? not Steve Francis. If so, the math is far from working. Childress and MWilliams for QRich wouldn't even work mathmatically, plus Hawks would never do that.
The Knicks should not give up David Lee, but they could use a player like Luke Walton, someone who likes to pass the ball and is good at it. They have too many shoot first, shoot second, shoot third, pass only when life is threatened by a man with a gun players. We do need a perimeter scorer to come off the bench.
The T-Wolves won't trade Garnett unless their hand is forced by KG. Since they have Mike James and Randy Foye, I would make an offer for Rashad McCants, but his knee surgery scares me. I don't think Minnesota would trade Ricky Davis. Those are the only other T-Wolves, other than KG and Foye who won't be traded, I would consider taking at this point.
And no one wants Kenyon Martin. Even Isiah Thomas doesn't want him.
But if you are going to make a post for us Laker Fans why not at least post that we are getting rid of Brian Grant Mckie Mihm and Kwame for Kevin Garnett Damon Jones JR Smith. I don't want to lose Odom. Imagine that tandem. If they would take the trade, offer a 2nd rounder to seal the deal. People love second rounders. Plus wouldn't Andre Miller be better than getting the Japanese shoe wearing, crazy looking, crazy acting, guy I wish got ran over my a steam roller Damon Jones.

Mchale isn't that stupid. And a 2nd rounder wouldn't seal the deal. And GM's don't really like to give up two star players and a young player with loads of potential for a bunch of role players.
