Lamar and Bynum should not be traded for KG....how stupid is that..in case u havent heard Bynum is 18 yrs old and 7 feet...he is our plan for the future...and c'mon we shouldnt trade Lamar at all...that would be stupid. Lamar is the big reason that the lakers made the playoffs this year. He runs our offense...plus next year, lakers are the only playoff team that will have over 20 million of cap room...thats right and thats about the same time that Kevin(Garnett) will be able to opt out of his contract...then that leaves LA there to sign him... not giving up anyone..plus kevin is dieng to play with a star player cuz he doesnt want to be the 1st option and he loves LA..and Phil
Why lakers have so much cap???one word Brian grant...we still have to pay him his 15 million next yr cuz lakers diddnt trade him we waived him...not his contract and paycheck......

And also because when we waived him, we didn't have to pay his penalties for the salary cap and now that saves the organization even more money.
Not necessarily for salary cap though.
Hopefully if we do sign Garnett he wont demand more than 11 million. He's getting a bit rusted, old, shriveled. whatever u wanna call it
old KG>most of the other people we have a chance at picking up this offseason
KG is a great player, but for the price we'll pay him, we could get three good players who all could contribute to the team. For the sake of the team and its future, it's best to not make a play for KG who has clocked a lot of floor time.
KG's not going to happen. Put the pipe down. With that said, we'd be absolutley stupid to turn down Odom and Bynum for KG. It would be a great trade for us and we'd become instant contenders.
Bynum is not very good....Odom is overrated.
Still, to get to the next level we just need to add some depth...like the Mavericks.
We should sign Banks, Profit and Rush and solve a SF/PF issue with a trade.

Sorry, but The Lakers will not be $20 million under the cap after next season. Even with Brian Grant's salary gone The Laker will still have a $42 million team salary. And that's with only 6 players.
2007-2008 Laker salary:
Kobe - $19.490 million
Odom - $13.542 million
Kwame - $9.075 million
Bynum - 2.172 million
Sasha - $1.756 million
Cook - $2.213 million
And I believe the salary cap is around $45 million. The Lakers are about $3 million below the salary cap, but will need that to get the rest of the bench players and the $5 million for veteran players.
The main reason they are near the cap is because Laker management agreed to extend Kwame Browns contract an extra year. Adding an extra $9 million for the 2007-2008 season.
Saving cap space is for losers. The Lakers should trade Bynum and their draft pick to some gullible re-building team and grab another adequate veteran to pair with Kobe and Odom.
We will have to add another player or multiple players to make the trade work under the CBA, salaries that add up to about 4-5 million. Even if we throw in Aaron McKie, it wouldn't be enough. Adding Chris Mihm would make it work, but that would give Minnesota a logjam at center.
It's not going to happen. A Garnett trade is too difficult to do.
