Default Sign and Trade Andy

It was reported on ESPN last night, during the Nets-Seattle game that Cleveland is seriously pursuing a sign and trade of Andy.

With Donyell out for 2 months, the Cav's need some help.

What do you think are the areas/position/players we need?

Yeah, but who would want him? The guy thinks he's worth as much as Rashard Lewis. Do you think anyone wants a guy like that on their team?

And even if I wanted to be generous and say Andy is an above average defender and rebounder, which I don't think he is... He is too one sided to help any teams out significantly.

We're seeing how well Ben Wallace can play without having Rasheed Wallace to back him up down low.

I wonder what team is gonna want an out-of-shape Varejao for the price he's asking for ...

You don't think his 6.7 rebounds in 23.9 minutes are above average ? And his leading the league in charges drawn ? If we really want to win it all, we'll have to defend guys like KG, Rasheed Wallace or Dirk. Who do you want on these guys, AV or Drew ?

Anderson maybe a nice young player, but there is no way in hell that he is worth $9M a year. I'm not sure whhat he has done to even come up with that number. I suppose thats what happens when you have a weasel like Dan Fegan as your agent. The majority of Fegan's clients are overpaid. Guys like Dampier, Murphy, Terry, and Carroll. He's the same guy that caused the whole Yi Jianlian and Bucks controversy by trying to get Yi into a more marketable area so he can make more money off his endorsements. If I were the Cavs, I'd just forget about him and let him become a unrestricted free agent next summer. I highly doubt there will be any teams willing to pay him the kind of dollar he wants after not playing for a whole season. My guess is, he'll get a bunch of offers for the mid level exception which will be around $5.6M.

Free-agent Anderson Varejao, who helped the Cavaliers make their first NBA Finals last season, has grown so frustrated with stalled contract talks that he no longer wants to play in Cleveland.

Maybe we can package Hughes along with Andy...

I was reading from another b-ball site that the agent that Andy has is no good according to Ricky Davis.

When Anderson Varejao told ESPN.com that he's become so frustrated with contract negotiations that he doesn't want to play for the Cavaliers anymore, many wondered if it was Varejao speaking for himself, or his agent Dan Fegan, who has the reputation as a shrewd negotiator and malcontent.

Former Cavs guard Ricky Davis said he is positive Fegan is behind this stalemate. Fegan was Davis' agent for two years.

"He doesn't need to be an agent," said Davis, about Fegan. "He does dirty stuff, under-the-table things. [Varejao] needs to change agents immediately if he wants to get this thing done."
