yes you can play pickup games with the players of your choice (2on2, 3on3, etc), there are also other things, like the 3pt contest, online play, etc.

Great, I'm downloading all 3 demos as we speak.

I was wondering though, since there are 3 different games, isn't it hard to find
people to play against online? Seeing how people have different opinions on games and such. I have the NBA Street Homecourt and it's usually very hard to find someone to play against

It would be funner to play online if Josh Smith, Rudy Gay, etc. werent unstoppable. Just because they are big, athletic freaks doesnt mean they can jump over and dunk on anyone. I can udnerstand if its LeBron but I was palyin a game of 2k8 online for the 360 earlier. I was Rockets and opponent was Hawks. Josh Smith repeatedly dunked over Yao and Scola so I decided to put in Deke and Yao at the same time. He jksut kept dunking over both and sometimes getting the and 1. Its jsut frustrating. The other person was pretty average at the game but Josh Smith repeatedly bailed him out with 360s and windmills over Yao and Deke.

Yeah, if one's looking for a game like that, one should look for NBA street.
I'm looking for a more realistic type of NBA game.

you shouldnt have a problem finding someone online for nba2k8 as they have sold more than twice as many copies than Live 08 has:

http://www.vgchartz.com/news/news.php?id=587

This Wk - Last Wk - Name - Wk. Sales - Total Sales

#4 - #4 - NBA 2k8 - 29,309 - 174,058
#14 - #7 - NBA Live 08 - 11,554 - 86,702

NBA 08 isnt even on the list lol.

Ive been playin live since 95 I jumped of there bandwagon in 04. I own a ps3 (cuz x-box suks and the controller very uncomfortable) I have 2k and could'nt be happier (maybe cuz Im 29-5 in online play) The players play like they do in real life very fluid

Live 08 has stepped up big time this year but still fell short of 2k

NBA 08 flat out suks makes me feel like Im playin ps2. I'll be surprised to see nba 09( that bad)

Great, I'm playing 2k8 demo right now and so far so good, except there are no commentators. Does the real game have commentators?

Try getting more familar with the game...The Rockets in my opinion are the easiest team to use in the game because Yao is dominant on defense..I have never had problems with people dunking over Yao.

I can't remember the last time I played my ps3. Get a 360 for 2k8. It's cheaper and actually has other good games

ps3 can do more then the 360. ps3 is the better choice for the money and the games. you can play the 360 games on the PC. you cant play ps3 games on the PC

Again, are there commentators in the real game? cause after playing 3-4 games the excitement was gone, personally I need the commentators

yes there are commentators. Kenny 'the jet' Smith is the color commentator and Kevin Harlan is the main commentator, with Craig Sager on the sidelines..its great.
