Oh, shit! Even if he was performing in Boston, I still can't imagine a true Lakers fan wearing a Celtics jersey.

Anyway, OP, I can definitely understand where you're coming from.
I think my major gripe with this forum is the fact that any thread that isn't about LeBron, Kobe, MJ, DWade, Miami Heat, or the upcoming NBA Finals, nobody actually takes part in the discussion. The threads about the topics I just listed end up going into dozens of pages of troll posts or people arguing about why LeBron won't be as good as MJ was or Kobe isn't as good as LeBron is, etc.

What the hell is wrong with you? You're seriously complaining about the lack of intelligence and decorum on an internet message board. A place where people come day after day to defend their favorite player against some anonymous person. A place where people build up their favorite players, while they unwittingly reveal how sick and over the top their obsessions with their favorite players are. Why do you have so much invested in a message board? If you think the people are immature and not thoughtful enough then just leave. You don't have to make some grand pronouncement. It shouldn't matter that much to you or anyone else for that matter.

Yes, this place sucks. The worst run site I've used.

You've been a member for four years and nothing's gotten better.

The people who run the site are literally idiots. But they've created an environment for other idiots and they thrive here.

I thought more people would be upset by it when I started posting here, but the ones who do move on to better boards (with less traffic) or just learn to use the ignore feature.

Earlier today I opened a thread and on the first two pages, there were only two comments from someone not on my ignore list.

On the other sites I use, I have maybe 10 people total on ignore. That sums up ISH.

Remember, you can't spell shit without ISH.

That's not what he's complaining about. It's more the double standards on how idiots get away with more.

Nothing is wrong with me. I've been a member here for about 4 years and I've posted what like 1200 times. That's roughly 0.8 posts per day for 4 years. I'd say my level of investment would probably rate a nice moderate 5.0 out of 10. To that fact, I don't post anywhere else because I do in fact do other things, and it annoys me on some level that this place has declined -- that when I came here those years ago I thought the climate was much more thoughtful and the conversations more intelligent.

It's funny, for your 28th post ever here you put some thought and time into trying to shoot me down. I at least appreciate what looks like grammar and a paragraph as well to boot. So anyway, we can let go of the "omg you have no life because you wrote something real\serious on an internet message board!" argument for now. I think we can. It doesn't apply here. One of the reasons I feel inclined to post what I do is that through the course of "real life" I also notice trends, and recently I noticed the trend of hearing vulgar little 12-15 yr old boys using the word "*******" far too much. I made a connection so I decided to challenge some of those kids on here to think for themselves. If you're pointing out that that quest is futile, ok. Fine, I agree.

"A place where people come day after day to defend their favorite player against some anonymous person. A place where people build up their favorite players, while they unwittingly reveal how sick and over the top their obsessions with their favorite players are. "

It doesn't have to be like that. It wasn't always like that. There can be intelligent conversations, NOW. Not after we "get rid" of people. It's an atmosphere thing. People act how they think it might be appropriate to act. If the core users of this website make a concerted effort to post intelligently it can have an impact on the quality of the board right away..

If that doesn't happen? I'll find a way to move on with my life...

I'll be surprised if you read\respond to this since you apparently don't actually use this website.

This is a huge board. There are very smart people here and some not-so-bright people. There are some 35-year-olds who mostly just follow top NBA news, and there are 14-year-olds who spend 23 hours a day living and breathing basketball. This is a big mix. But the one common thing here is that everyone likes basketball.

Sarcastic stuff works great on thousands of people here, and then thousands of others (some of whom still might know a million things about basketball, others not so much) will miss it.

Simply putting something like this: /sarcasm
is easy and helps.
Not necessary to always do, but if you are going to put real time into something sarcastic to make some huge point, go for it

I will\can do that. The main point of this entire thing for me is to encourage those of us who know better to try to get some momentum started with the idea of refraining from using hateful language and maybe promoting more intelligent respectful discussion of BBALL in the process. I happen to think the NBA's ad campaign involving Hill\Dudley and now others, is a great thing.. though im sure there are legitimate criticisms that I would be willing to listen to.. that ur free speech is violated however is not one of those legit criticisms.

The n-word and the f-word should be lumped together in the same category. Off limits unless you're really trying to offend someone or identify yourself as a bigot. Those are the two uses for those 2 words, and that's how it should be. I just wish people could stop trying to be cool all the time and agree that maybe that's not such a bad idea. Maybe trying to be a good respectful person isn't completely at odds with our basketball and US culture that we love. Maybe it doesn't make you totally uncool, or less manly, or whatever else. Just maybe..

"He's good, but Rakocevic was better.

He won't amount to anything in the NBA, as long as the NBA coaches continue their racist way of thinking against athletic white European guards. Rakocevic was similar, only better and more talented.

And the NBA just refused to play him when he went there."

Post by Euroleague. Last week i posted a clearly sarcastic post making fun of someone using similar words, and got my post removed and got scolded for being insane and racist. This is his post. he posts 10 like this every day.

The selective enforcement of rules is silly. Somehow, all 100 of his posts like this stay up, but my sarcastic response was caught and taken care of.

Stop making excuses and let mods ban people. If you can "figure out how."

Sorry if this sounds inflammatory, but you need to;

A) Cap how many threads people can make for AT LEAST the postseason.

B) Let mods impose infractions worth different points, which can accrue to a total point value leading to a temporary ban. I know you can do this with vBulletin. Did you miss the night there was about 3 hours worth of hardcore porn here?

C) Get more mods, I nominate Rose first but it's your choice. Just get more please & thank you.
