Default anyone here play any organized ball?

i played at the local boy's club a bit and i got on my 7th grade middle school team (i was the tallest/cluelessest benchwarmer ever). i was never very good but i was pretty decent on defense. i don't think i cared enough to push myself. i mostly played w/ my friends in pickup games where i was way more comfortable. i never had anyone really push me to play or get better and i quickly grew bored of basketball. looking back, i could have easily made my high school varsity squad (head coach said to just "show up") and i greatly regret it now.

i didn't start getting into it again until about 4 years ago when i discovered that my oldest son was shooting good right b4 he went into 1st grade. i've fell back in love ever since. my wife gets so sick of hearing about basketball. i'm somewhat consumed w/ my son's basketball career. i can't help it. he's on a boy's club team and an aau team playing 3 games and 3 practices a week.

I want to really get into some sort of organized league. I was actually a pretty decent player back in H.S. Nothing outstanding, never averaged more than probably 8 or 9 ppg. Best game being like 20 mayyybe 22 points and like 10 or so rebounds. Not bad, could have been better, if pushed, like you said jbot... I had a good outside game, not a bad defender. I would love to get back into some sort of ball. Played a pretty intense pick-up game a couple of weeks ago, didn't do bad at all. Back in the day though I would play 6+ hours a day 7 days a week.

i did make an attempt a year ago when we lived across the road from a track. i went from almost passing out on 3/4 of a lap to almost a whole mile within 1 1/2 weeks or so. now i live out in the boonies and i don't want to let my neighbors watch me huff and pant like a slob outside running around.

Actually, I'm about 5'7" and skinny as hell. Our team sucks because we're all at most 5'11". Every team we play always has at least one tall kid, and that guy gives us hell.

I hope we get one, or else we're screwed. I bet your kid's taller than our average player.
