Bowie wasn't a bust as much as he was (retroactively) clearly the wrong player to pick with the #1. Hence, he is considered a bust.
Kandi was picked #1 in a pretty weak draft, if I remember correctly. Still, as far as #1s go, he was pretty...lackadaisical.
Bowie graduated from my high school too...and boy, did they talk him up. I was just a kid though...I didn't learn the truth that Bowie is considered probably the biggest bust ever until much later. They didn't tell us that in school.
kandi-man was all mouth and no clue about anything... in short, a freaking headcase. that prolly was a big factor in his sucking arse as a bball player (if i may say that).
i saw him one time on the maher show (old format) and as usual some hot social / political topic came up, and one of them asks kandi for his opinion. from that followed one of the strangest, nonsensical rambles i've ever heard a human being make. it was like listening to a fast-talking, 10-year old conspiracy theorist with a thick accent trapped in the body of a very tall man.
so the audience went dead silent and the four other people at the table were left looking at each other with bulging eyes, as if to say "who the feck let this mental patient onto the show?"
needless to say, kandi's opinion was not consulted again and he made no more appearances on that (or any other AFAIK) show.
