Default Roy should be an All-Star, but will be snubbed....

Kobe Bryant
Baron Davis
Manu Ginobili
Allen Iverson
Tracy McGrady
Steve Nash
Tony Parker
Chris Paul
Deron Williams
Kevin Martin
Jason Terry
Monta Ellis

Thats his competition, and he will be snubbed due to inexperience (others will be snubbed too).

If all star teams were selected today, T-Mac and Kobe will start.

Coaches will select Nash and either Iverson or Paul for the second spot.

Then there is (I believe) 2 wildcard spots.
Iverson or Paul (which ever one isn't selected above will get that spot).

That leaves one wildcard spot that will go to any of these players: Marion, J. Howard, Manu, Parker, Terry, B. Davis, S. Jackson, D. Williams (unlikely with their record and Boozer going to be making it), Camby, and Roy.

I may be biased, but I believe Roy has been outplaying all of those guys listed. However, he won't be selected due to the established reputation of those others and the "he will have plenty opportunities in the future" to make it.

With all this talk of the all-star team, this is what I think it will look like:
C: Yao
F: Melo
F: Dirk
G: Kobe
G: T-Mac

Backup:
C: Amare
F: Duncan
F: Boozer
G: Nash
G: Iverson (or Paul)

Wildcard:
Paul (or Iverson)
Any of the listed ones above

I don't think Monta Ellis will make it over Roy. Nor will Jason Terry.

He would only get in and barely if he kept up his scorching pace. I don't see it happening this year though.

What it probably will be:

C - Yao Ming
F - Dirk Nowitzki
F - Carmelo Anthony
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Tracy McGrady
Steve Nash
Tim Duncan
Allen Iverson
Carlos Boozer
Amare Stoudemire
Chris Paul
Manu Ginobili

There's your team.

Imo, he's been the MVP of the West but he nor Chris Paul will get it.

I agree with that. Terry has a chance to make it, but not not Ellis. Ellis was just there to emphasize the competitive West.

Mj - I hope you are right, but currently Dirk is ahead of Duncan in voting. Either way, one will start, and the other will be off the bench (even though J. Howard is outplaying Dirk, Dirk is still seen as the leader and would get Howard's votes)

Thats who I was leaning towards. I still think Roy is doing better in the sense of carrying a bigger load and accomplishing more with less, but Manu will get the nod most likely over Roy. Though Parker is high in the eyes of the coaches right now too, so they may steal some votes from each other.

Of course. Manu's been carrying the team when Duncan was out. Now Parker's out too.

Isn't he their leading scorer next to Parker?

Yeah, Parker's at 20.1, Ginobili's at 20.0.

.1 difference in scoring for one of the best teams in the league? He's on.

LOL @ three Timberwolves

I don't think Brewer will ever start an All-Star game

Jefferson will once Duncan retires and Dirk starts to fade into the abyss

Foye will never start because Chris Paul will still be around

Brandon Roy will because who is there to compete that are just as young as him?

Derron Williams
Monta Ellis...thats about it...

Finally, I think Kevin Durant will get in just from all the media hype he's been getting. It's very laughable when I see guys on ESPN praising Durant and his sub-40% shooting ass.

I think Paul will get it before Roy because he's been in the league longer and has better stats right now but Roy is a very mature player and plays like a true leader. He'll get his chance next year or after that for sure.

Although Roy plays SG as well as PG so that gives him a better chance.
