Big disappointment. The movie is so full of cliches is not even funny. Just a dumb plot period. I hated History of Violence, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. The only good thing I'll say about it is that the performances were great. I just don't get how both History of Violence, and Eastern Promises were both so critically acclaimed.

I liked History of Violence more though. I thought it was better. I like the creepy directing and so on. It kind of reminded me of David Lynches work.

But Cronenburg's best movie was "The Fly".

I actually liked "Eastern Promises" more. Regardless, I'll never watch either film again.

Some of the best films I've seen this year are:

The Host (Korean monster flick that puts Hollywood monster flicks to shame)

Bourne Ultimatum (perfect end to the best Hollywood made spy thriller trilogy ever)

Sicko (Michael Moore's best doc to date, eye opening)

There's plenty I still need to see. These 3 stick out. I really want to see "No Country for Old Men".

I definitely want to see "The Host" someday. I know it's on DVD now. Never got a chance to catch it on the big screen, but it looked good for sure. I remember seeing trailers for it awhile back, around last years Oscars.

Yeah, it's great. I'm big fan of Korean flicks.

Honestly... I'm not sure I've seen a movie made this year that has really impressed me much. I'm racking my brain... it has been an extremely weak year for the film industry, imo.

I can't think of a single movie made this year that I would recommend to someone.

EDIT: I have not seen There Will Be Blood or No Country For Old Men yet... Hopefully those two can make up for all of the turds I have watched so far this year.

Agreed. The Coen brothers are two of my favorite directors and this was probably just as great as Fargo which is also a very incredible movie.

As is The Big Lebowski...

I'm anxious to see No Country for Old Men.

Juno was so blah.

Good story premise but the dialogue was plain awful. AWFUL.

"Honest to blog?"

"Jesus, Banana! Shut your gob!"

"Yo yo yiggity yo"

Give me a break. There's quirky dialogue then there's this crap.

Jesus H., what an overrated, overhyped, annoying 96 minutes that was.
