When I say more challenging, I guess I mean more realistic. The cars are a bit more twitchy on the exit of corners if you put the power on too early. Knowing when to turn DRS and KERS on at the right times is important too.
The cars are far from undriveable though, I can drive them easily with all assists off, and I only use the 360 controller too.
Depends how many mistakes you make, and what difficulty you have the AI set at.
There are 4 AI levels. Amateur, Intermediate, Professional and Legend. I find Professional is a good one for me personally. When I drive a Virgin, Lotus or HRT (Force India and Williams are also available at the start), no matter how hard I try in qualifying, I'll always be around that 19th-20th area, which is realistically the best those back-marker cars could manage. I love that type of realism. In the race you can still 'outperform' your car and get some decent finishes, but the chances of you finishing in the points with those type of cars are pretty minimal, again, I like the realism of that. Once you get yourself in a better car in the future, obviously better results become easier to come by. Of course, if you wanted good results straight away, you could just lower the AI.
