Default Compare Korver/Giricek

Gordon
30 years old
expiring 4M contract
.368 3pt ave.
.426 3pt best year (06-07)
launches 2 long balls per game
Learned to move around a lot to stay on the floor. Fought a lot with Sloan.
Image: we hoped to have another Hornacek, even the last name started to be pronounced with a "s" sound in Girisek. I laughed every time he would point to himslef with both hands after hitting a few threes in a row.

Korver
26 years old
3 year 4.5M contract
.409 3pt ave.
.430 3pt best year (06-07)
launches 4-5 long balls per game
Saw him in the 3 point shoot out. I think he also was out of grace in Philli.
Image: We have another guy the fans can live through vicariously. Most of us love the big three and think if we worked real hard we could have been the short (relative) unathletic shooter.

They are basically the same player. Almost the same size, both shooters, starting position out of range (range rarely being an issue for either on the court though). We don't really need draft pick salaries in the future when we have talent to resign, so the pick doesn't really hurt.

The best thing about this trade: both players get a new slate.
The worst thing about this trade: we gave away our expirer.

How do you see this working out? Korver + Sloan = ??? Will this affect the 2 spot? Will Gordon get a chance at another contract in the NBA or will he go abroad at the end of his contract?

EDIT: I got the trade info wrong, my bad. Nice trade for Utah I think, great shooter in Korver who can really get the hothand regularly. Yep I'd say this looks promising.

The biggest difference is that Korver isn't as disgruntled as Giricek so we can actually use him. I used to think that Giricek was the better defender, but Sloan seems to think otherwise.

I think you guys just got a good addition. Korver's got a great shot, and can come off the bench and get you some points. He's a big threat on the pick and roll, since you can now kick it out to him and hope he makes a good shot. And the draft pick really doesn't have much of a meaning. The Jazz need to win NOW, and they don't have a need for picking up another young kid. And Philadelphia gets some use out of this trade, too. Good transaction for both teams.

It'll be good to have a guy coming off the bench who can hit some shots and score. They can also rely a little less on Matt Harpring who is getting up there in years, and has had some injury problems.

I'll give you guys my two cents, even though I am not a Jazz fan I am an NBA fan and I have NBA League Pass. I occasionaly watch the Utah Jazz as well as other out of market teams so I'll fill in and tell you what I think of these two players.

Kyle Korver is good.

Gordan Giricek sucks.

Korver should fit on the jazz well. He's what utah wanted giricek to be, offensively at least

First I actually didn't mind Giricek.....

I'm impressed so far with Korver. He isn't exactly lighting it up right now but seems to be doing and saying all the right things.....

Love watching him fight to get free.....

Yeah, no kidding. When gira's shot isn't falling you wouldn't even know he was on the court if not for the traveling calls. Atleast with Korver he's still active when he's not hitting shots...
