Turn up the sliders for close shots, layups, and shots in traffic. It's not really cheating because the CPU benefits from the change as well.

As for rebounding, the CPU is horrible at it. I always switch to a post player and rebound myself. I have no problem getting double digit rebounds that way.

I play GM and simulate the whole regular season. I do the development and scouting every week of course. Also making sure to alter the rotation to keep players happy, and trading players away if the minute distribution isn't working.

If I make the playoffs then I play the entire playoffs using best of 5, then best of 7 for the finals.

If I miss the playoffs then obviously I wasn't that great of a GM and I try to make the playoffs the next season by either drafting well or making some trades. The scouting system in NBA 2k8 is niiiiiiice.

As for the actual thread question:

I love starting franchises with the Blazers or Hawks.

tip: the 76ers are the savior of this game. The first thing I do when starting any franchise is dump the overpaid / long / old player contracts onto the Sixers for some draft pics and cap relief.

I'm playing as the Sonics at the moment

PG - Delonte West
SG - Kevin Martin
SF - Kevin Durant
PF - Chirs Wilcox
C - Andrew Bogut

Bench
Jeff Green
Luke Ridinour
Nick Collison
Robert Swift
Sebastian Telfair
Kurt Thomas
Wally Sczerbiak

I traded Earl Watson for Andrew Bogut and some crap and a 1st rounder for Kevin Martin. Currently have a record of 10-3.

Here is my current team.

Hawks- Year 2010-2011.

Starters:

PG- Deron Williams - 98
SG- Sean Mann (draft pic) - 91
SF- Josh Smith - 93
PF- Tyson Teague (draft pic) - 86 (rookie)
C- Andrew Bynum - 90

Bench:

PG- Acie Law - 81
SG- Josh Childress - 84 (sixth man)
SF- Luke Walton - 78
PF- Sheldon Williams - 78
C - Herb Wheeler (draft pic) - 77
PF - Hakim Warrick - 79
PF- Soloman Jones - 72

All players are 75+ morale as well. Didnt make the playoffs the first two years, but made some nic draft pics and trades, then won the 'ship last year, and just entered the playoffs as the #1 seed this season.

I just started one tonight with the grizz. I've only done one move but i really like to play as this team.

PG - Conley
SG - Joe Johnson
SF - Rudy Gay
PF - Hakim Warrick
C - Al Horford

Main bench players are Mike Miller, Darko and Stro.

Goals are improving Conley's passing and awareness. Team Chemistry. And find a better 4/5 to establish a good 3-man rotation in the front court.

for online i use knicks/hawks/blazers/warriors

Knicks: Nate, Marbs, Zbo, Q, Lee all start

Curry gets time off bench and so does Crawford

Hawks: Law/Salim/Joe J/Smoove/Horford

Childress/Marvin get significant time off bench

Blazers: Jack/Roy/Jones/Aldridge/Oden

Webster/Blake/Prz get time

Warriors: Baron/Buike/SJAX/Barnes/Al Harring

Beedrins/Peetrus/Bellinelli get time off bench

im 53-6 overall, i lost 3 games with the suns and 2 games with the celtics in the beginning, im undefeated with the teams above except 1 loss with the blazers... 50-1 with those ****ty teams up there

I use the Raps

PG- Tj Ford
SG- Anthony Parker
SF- Jason Kapono/Jorge Garbojosa
PF- Chris Bosh
C-Andrea Bargnani

Bench:

Calderon
Delfino
Dixon
Humphries
Rasho
Graham

In my first Association I traded Dixon and Humphries for Scola but I deleted it to start over wasn't a bad trade IMO

These days you can find we tearing up people over the world on Xbox Live, just because the CPU just doesn't cut it for me.
