good list.
I put it this way.
1. kareem (6 MVPs, 6 championships, ridiculous stats)
2. magic (nuf said)
3. tie Jerry/Kobe
4. elgin
I don't consider Shaq and Wilt real Lakers, even though they wore the jersey for a while. I hope Shaq goes to the Hall of Fame in a Miami jersey.

Crappy list. You can't list 7 players on a top 4 ranking

ok we can fix that lol. i didn't follow the lakers until showtime so i'm not really very familiar with mikan, jerry west, elgin baylor, wilt's career in LA.

1. magic - the only all-time top10 player who has been a laker all of his career (you could make a case for jerry west, if you consider him all-time top 10). his championship clinching performance in his rookie season is by far the best individual performance ever (sorry kobe 81 ;p ). best point guard ever, as well as the only player in the nba who could play and dominate all 5 positions. makes everyone around him better.

2. kareem - all-time leading scorer, 6 time mvp, won a couple of titles with the lakers. joined the lakers later in his career but still dominated.

3. kobe - he could challenge magic for #1 if he gives us another title or two

4. shaq - MDE, 3 finals mvps in 3 championships, including 1 mvp season. but he's lazy and slacks during the regular season.

i'd put jerry, elgin, & wilt later on because they didn't really win that many championships, the celtics pretty much owned the lakers during their time, aside from the fact that i don't know much about them..heh

quick points of clarification
Kareem played 6 years at Milwaukee then 14 years with the Lakers.
He won 1 ring with the Bucks, then 5 rings with the Lakers.

Elgin Baylor is the 4th all-time leader in points per game (27.4). Jerry West is 5th (27). By way of comparison, Shaq is 7th (26.3) and Kobe is 16th (23.9).

The last sentence can be very hard to believe.

amazing isn't it. you can fact-check at nba.com
people today don't know how good Elgin and the Logo were. Superstuds. they were Michael Jordans before Michael. Here's some more...

Elgin: All-NBA 11 years. All-NBA FIRST TEAM 10 YEARS!!

Jerry: All-NBA 14 years. All-NBA FIRST TEAM 10 YEARS!! First team all defense 4 years.

By comparison, Shaq is a 9-year All-NBA, 4 years first team.

For those fans that are into stats and basketball info http://www.82games.com/ is another great source for player stats, salaries and more. I love the fact you can see the salaries helps with coming up with trade ideas or is good for shooting down a lame trade that someone posts. GO USA 8:00pm on the Westside espn2 donít forget to watch.

its unbelivable the disparity between how many 40 pt games he had in 05-06 and 04-05. I think it was like 6 40 pt games in 04-05 lol

last yr was amazing though. guy had more 50+ point games than all the 50 point games all the players in the league had combined. total dominance. and he pulls away with nike baller of the year and 4th in MVP voting...

If you took Kobe out of the Lakers line-up this past year how do you think the Lakers would have done? 20-62? He was the major reason why they finished above .500 and made the play-offs. He was the major reason why the Lakers won games!

I think they would be get between 10-15 wins. its ridiculous how he comes in 4th in MVP voting. I usually got irritated when he didnt get the respect he deserved but after that, I know that no matter what, hes doomed. doesnt matter what people think though, hes on a mission and he'll keep proving people wrong.
