Default New Year Evaluation

Well no-one else has done it so I might as well. Care to evaluate how the talent has done thus far? Can be management, players, whatever.

I'll do a brief run-down and elucidate if needed.

Durant- 8
(rookie problems but I remain impressed, especially the mental aspect)

Green- 7 (clearly talented but very passive at times)

Presti- 7 (did what was needed. maybe should have considered Yi in the draft and could have got more for Walter)

three-headed pg monster- 2 (need to get rid of watson and rid if possible, to free up big $ if nothing else)

It'll be interesting seeing how Jeff Green does now that he's starting

Well if given time to work through his mistakes I hope to see him become a bit more assertive.

I'm not sure how much there is to evaluate. Durant has looked good at times (like Adam Morrison with more talent, confidence and a higher volume of shots). Green has looked good at times but is a bit too passive most of the time (which was his biggest knock in college where you were wondering if he'd realized he was the best player on the court). The point guard situation has been an absolute mess with none of the three getting consistent minutes. Szczerbiak has been a good shooter off the bench but his development is not all that important. Wilkins has really cooled off after a hot start and isn't even starting now. The bigs have been a mixed bag, Thomas is playing pretty well, Wilcox is hardly getting consistent minutes, and Collison looks like he's going to be a good energy guy coming off the bench for years to come. Their other centers are all stiffs (yes, even Swift).

been gone awhile...
  • we dont have enough talent
  • durant shoots too much
  • wally still thinks he is in MN
  • west is positioning for a new team, bigger contract
  • watson is a backup pg, not a starter
  • green looks like a poor mans josh howard
  • collison is a workhorse but cant shoot
  • we need more consistency from wilcox
  • is a healthy swift anywhere in sight?
  • pj hasnt defined minutes and roles well so we get inconsistent play
  • rid has lost confidence because of the previous point
  • gelebale--- does anyone care?
  • bennett is salivating at the impending move to OKC
  • if the courts deem the lease must be honored until 2010----

On your points, Rainier:

Durant does shoot too much, but its only too much because he hasnt found his spots yet and thus shoots poor %s.

Gelabale and Swift need to be moved.

I really like Wilcox and he cant do what he could because PJ really isnt very good (starting to lose patience with him) and doesnt set pick and rolls for him, he just wanders around getting garbage buckets mostly.
