Default Based on recent criteria, Chris Paul is your new MVP

Best player on Best team (one of) - CHECK

Only all star on Best team (one of) - CHECK

Without him team would be **** - CHECK

No distinct 2nd best player - CHECK

Pretty stat line - CHECK

What do you think? The only other player that can actually threaten based on this criteria would be Kobe. Dirk is not winning it again and one can make an argument (although weak) about Duncan being the obvious best player on his team.

Based on the way I believe it should be, Duncan should be MVP. He should've been the previous year, and Shaq should have won every year before that and after Mike.

Chris Paul is the frontrunner for MVP, closely followed by LeBron. Anyone who tells you otherwise is an idiot.

I agree. If Nash can get it twice on a loaded team, Paul should be a no-brainer if NOK keeps this up. Let's see what the idiot voters do...

edit. BTW West is the distinct 2nd best player. He has played just as good as (if not better than) CP in many of their games this year..

Just being the Devil's advocate, but Garnett would be the best player on the best team. Though, I'd be happier to see Paul get it than Garnett.

well that criteria is a little bias.

Paul is a candidate and if he win it he deserve it 100%. In fact, I support him, Camby and King James for it. But not based on those forced criteria.

I've got LBJ as eventual MVP right now.

I know Paul has a better record, and has faced a tougher schedule.... but the Cavs are playing well right now and I think they are going to continue to climb the ranks.... while I see the Hornets possibly falling back down the earth.

Just a guess.

I dont know how recent you meant but Nash wasnt the only all star on his team and Amare was the distinct 2nd best player in 04-05 and Marion was the distinct 2nd best player in 05-06. So pretty much this thread deserves a F. Congrats!

Did you see me curse the criteria? NO. I just like the other kind better.

Come on man you know I'm a huge Nash fan, and he CLEARLY deserved it in 05-06 (my mistake I forgot Amare was hurt this was a sick season for him). I think Shaq deserved it in 04-05. Duncan deserved it last season.

I understand but the criteria you said they go by, is not what they went by when they picked Nash as mvp. Just wanted that to be known.

He is a front runner for sure right now. However...

Reasons he won't win MVP:

It's only his 3rd season. He is not a big enough media darling and the general public don't know him. Therefore the media won't vote for him.

Hornets probably won't finish top 4 in the NBA at the end of the season.

CP is the MVP, but Duncan has players have more talents than all-stars players, just watch when manu plays, he's the best player of the game, he hit some slutch 3 pts to give spurs a lead in a game, i will trade everybody except lebron, kobe for him.

I'd give it to Paul.

I'm surprised there's no love for Baron Davis. Not that I think he should win it, but he's in the discussion at least.
