I don't get it. Dirk led the Mavs to a 67 win season. No way could the Mavs win 67 games without Dirk. Just because he had one bad playoff series, people forget about the outstanding year he had. He won MVP for the regular season, not the playoffs so he definitely deserved it more than anyone in the league. FYI, I like Nash but he has not been able to get his team out of the WCF but Dirk took his team to the finals in '06. If not for the bad match-up with GS, the Mavs could've easily reach the finals again.

The only people who think Dirk deserved the MVP are Mavs fans or Germans

Bad matchup with GS. Buddy Phoenix would beat Dallas in 6 games max!!!

I'd like to think we learn from our mistakes, but just in case, make sure the MVP Award is presented in one of the first four games of the first round, so as to avoid an embarrassing press conference.

This is why I don't expect Garnett, Pierce, or Allen to be seriously considered in MVP talks. Nobody stands out. One of Kobe, Lebron, and Dwight will win it. Most likely the one with the best record.

Kobe has had off nights and the Lakers still won many times this season.

He would have to have a huge statistical season but he'll really need a good playoff performance to draw serious consideration from voters again.

I'm German and I think Dirk clearly deserved the MVP last year:). There are three things you have to look at when you choose the MVP, IMO. The performance of the player (stats), team wins and importance to their team. Ok let's see.
Stats: Dirk > Nash (i believe Dirk had the 2 highest per behind wade)
Wins: Dirk > Nash (67 > 61)
Importance to the team: the only thing i know is that Nash has the most talented team in the league. But on the other hand we know that they tend to fall apart when nash is hurt. So this is definately arguable.

So I don't understand how people can say he clearly didn't deserve it. If you don't like Dirk or if you think he didn't deserve it because he choked in the postseason, ok i can understand it. But if you think he didn't derserve it because of his regular season play, then i don't see how you can come to that conclusion.
