Frazier was the same height as Payton and had 20 pounds on him (for those who like to bring up size), was a better shooter and more efficient scorer, a better rebounder, his assists were depressed by playing in Red Holzman's system where one player didn't dominate the ball, and he was more clutch, being one of the greatest big-game guards in NBA history, dropping 36 points, 19 assists and seven rebounds in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals on Jerry West, and should have two Finals MVPs (10 years later, Magic got it for dropping 42, 15 and 7 in the deciding Game 6 when Kareem was injured, which was the exact same situation Frazier was in with Willis Reed injured, only the Lakers had a Game 7 if they had lost that game, while there were no more games left for Frazier; in '73, Reed somehow won Finals MVP again over Frazier despite playing only 30 minutes a game while Frazier played 46). Frazier also did to Jerry West what Payton did to Jordan in the '96 NBA Finals.
I'd say he is.

All were/are better than GP. He's possibly top 10 or 15 though.
are u kidding me?? GP would of killed nash, the reason GP is better is he would score 25 points, 10 ast and shut the other teams best player down... what r u talking about nash has done it for 3 years payton has down it for 12 years... GP is a top 5 PG... him and jordan are the only players to have 10, NBA first defensives team... get out of here nash is not comparable to GP
Nash is better than GP at running an offense. He's obviously not as good of defender but Way better at running an offense, handling the rock, vision, leadership etc...
The only top 5 list GP makes for me is trash talking.
You can't simply put Nash on a top 5 list simply because he plays at a high level for 3 or 4 years. Payton has been doing this his whole career. If anything Payton runs the offence better then Nash. Remember the Seattle days? Leadership? He led his team to the NBA finals, and put up a great fight against the Michael Jordan Bulls.
Nash isn't even the best point guard Phoenix has ever had. That award goes to Kevin Johnson.
