Do you agree with the offseason path John Paxson has chosen with the Chicago Bulls? What might you have done differently to improve the team?

I like what the Bulls have done. They're taking a chance on being great. It might not work. Maybe Ben Wallace is too old and Tyrus Thomas too young, but they're giving it a shot and I respect that the most. I like doing all you can to win now because the future isn't promised. I've talked about major deals, but none of those guys, Pierce, Allen, Garnett, Marion, have been traded, which tells you it isn't easy to get someone like that and there
aren't enough stars to go around anymore.

Q: Do you see Tyrus Thomas playing a large role with the Chicago Bulls this year? What do you think his primary position will be?


A: I'm sure he'll have his ups and downs, like most rookies. He'll look terrific some nights and disappear other nights. I guess the hope is that he contributes more as the season goes along, so he's ready to be a factor in the playoffs.

I think he'll probably play power forward most often. The Bulls have no choice but to use small lineups frequently, so if he's in there with Nocioni, he may be considered the small forward. But ultimately, I don't think it matters very much as long as Tyrus can block shots and grab some rebounds.

He nailed it about TT in that people will see his explosivness & tremendous blocking ability one game & the next you might say, where is that guy?

You take the lumps with him, because I think he has Marion type potential.

i agree. Tyrus could end up a cross of Marion and Amare.

and he may well even start the odd game at some point this season...
