It's Jeff's job unfortunately. I asked him to grant me banning powers but he said just to report stuff and he'll take care of it. He was made aware of it yesterday and I had to send another message to him today. We'll see how it goes.

He's pretty busy, like you and lots of other folks, so yeah it could take him a while to get to stuff but a second email never hurts.
Southport is a neat little town. Lots of antique shops and what not. Oak Island is okay. There's the weird looking lighthouse and not a lot of public beach access. Bald Head Island, which is accessible only by ferry from Southport, is a car-free island. It's about a $15 round trip for the ferry and you can rent a golf cart to get you around the island.
IMO, if you want beach access, you're better off going to Kure Beach from Southport or Sunset Beach with is closer to the SC border.

My cousin rented a condo right on the beach, so I guess we got lucky. I'm going to do some googling, but your input is great. Thanks, Timmeh.
Ok, nevermind about the beach access then if you've got a house rented. That's pretty much what the area down there is for. The more public access is on the outer banks.
so last night was my first night sleeping in my dorm room. it was pretty cool, my roommate's a nice guy. i think the first night is usually the hardest to get some sleep, but i got a good 5-6 hours in and i have my first college class ever in 2 hours. this roommate thing is actually working out a lot better than i thought it would

Heavens, Quiz!! Time marches on, doesn't it. Did you end up at Long Beach State? What about Artex? Where did he end up? You can probably get some good advice, if you need any, from some of our posters who've rather recently survived their first year of college.
Congrats and good luck!
