I wonder how UCLA will handle Dorsey, Dozier, and Taggart down low? Then they've got to make sure they can stop CDR, Derrick Rose, and everyone on the perimeter also. I have Memphis winning that game too. As for UNC-Kansas, I'll go with UNC. UNC > Memphis in the National Championship by a missed free throw.

If you live in England, please respond to this:
According to what I've been reading, London's June weather averages 68 degrees Farenheit for the high and 47 degrees Farenheit for the low and the rain average is just over two inches for the month. Is this year a bit crazy in terms of weather or should I expect the averages (and pack my suitcase accordingly) when I visit around the middle of next month?
Thanks.

I live in the Netherlands, so the climate is the same.

This past few weeks the weather has een crazy good, but nobody is expecting it to last. In fact right now it's raining again and it's about 50 degrees.
As for June, around 60 degrees sounds right. That would mean it's comfortable when the sun is shining and it's cold when it's raining. Defintaly bring some of your warm clothes as well.

Are you a Dutch native? I spent (not nearly enough) time in the Netherlands (less than a week) as a tourist last May. While there is so much to see as far as cultural and historical places, I got only a glimpse (mostly from our tour guide who was a woman of around 60 years of age and who lives in Utrecht) of just how different Dutch society and values are from American culture and values. I am deeply curious as to how those differences influence the mentality of day-to-day living--mental health and all the nuances of daily living. It would be much more fulfilling to be able to disappear into a new culture to try and 'feel' it from the inside rather than just be a tourist and get a quick glimpse which really gives little understanding of the country.

Also, thanks for the weather info. I will check further but I suspect that perhaps the entire British Isles weather will be similar...

17-day trip (escorted tour) to England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales. Graduation present for my granddaughter who just graduated from college yesterday. She earned it. She received recognition for being one of the two top students (academically) from among 172 graduates in her major (Mass Communication). Her experience (a summer job at Fox news in Fresno, California) and special interest is in News production. For my own selfish interest I hope that she will get a job with either CNN, the BBC or National Public Radio!!!!

Nearly three weeks away from this forum--coming back means lots of posts to catch up on and it seems like another planet altogether from the one that I vacated before travelling last month. But with all the news, there really isn't anything new except.....

The following questions aren't off-topic so please answer them in the appropriate place--why on earth would the Cats sign another 'work-in-progress' center from the draft when Hollins (who we re-signed?????????) has been a Cat for what--two or three seasons now--and is still a work-in-progress, himself? What a waste of money and space.......

And--if we're going to get a back-up PG--why the hell aren't we getting someone with at least four or five years of NBA experience?

Doesn't seem like the Cats' FO and head coach are interested in reaching the playoffs for yet another few years.

Thanks for asking, B4E. In a nutshell:

Beautiful scenery. Breathtaking. (Of course we have much that compares here in the U.S.). Regarding various ruins and also old but still-used buildings like cathedrals, universities (e.g. Oxford, Trinity College)--it gives one a sense of historical/spiritual continuity that one doesn't get in a country that considers a building obsolete within 25 years. Royal Albert Hall in London is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen. (It takes four years of study and passing a 'knowledge' test to become a taxi driver in London--and yes I can understand why--the city center is very complicated. Try to go around the block and you could almost end up in Wales. Well....) Overall, people are very friendly and many of them actually like Americans; many of the so-called ordinary every-day people have even been to the U.S.--some folks--even some in their 20s--have visited the US many times. People in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) and Ireland are much friendlier to Americans than Continental Europeans are.
Stonehenge was a very special experience; a henge is really just a round monument and there are many of them but the realization that people had rich spiritual lives and knowledge of astronomy and amazing problem-solving skills over three thousand years ago was very humbling.

The trip was a wonderful experience. I didn't get through Customs unscathed, but then I rarely do. And I've had enough of flying for a while.

And I'll be really unhappy if Gerald Wallace is traded. I can't imagine the team without him.
