So now that Paxson has basically decided that the Bulls are about to undertake rebuilding phase #87, it's obvious that one of these 3 will be a Bull in the summer. But this isn't about that.
What it's about is getting some more information on the 3 bigs in this draft that I feel will make an instant impact. And as guys picked in the late lottery/mid-1st round which one of these 3 have the best chance of becoming a David West-type contributor in the NBA?
I think Roy Hibbert is too slow to be consistently effective every game. If he goes up against a Phoenix or a Toronto, he's screwed, IMO. Love seems very good for a freshman, and could be a solid starting power forward in the league. I'm not sure if Arthur is ready to go to the NBA yet, but if you're looking for an athletic David West type, he's your best option. And in a league where you need athletic big men, he'd be a good guy to add. However, Chicago already has Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas, so getting a banger like Love would probably help more.
I agree with Big Three for the most part. I do, however, think Hibbert is athletic enough to be a factor in the NBA. Not a top tier center, but an average starter or a good backup. He would be good if you want a change of pace. If the Bulls plan to build a slow down, defensive oriented team, Hibbert would be a good pick. I agree about Love and Arthur.
I'm not sure Hibbert is better than Aaron Gray...I look at Love and I see a stud, reminds me of a better passing, less problematic, right-handed Zach Randolph. People are sleeping on him as an NBA prospect because he's unathletic( white) but i tell ya he's more athletic than Randolph and had a better frosh season plus he has a desire to be great!
It's funny because a couple of years ago I was saying that I thought Hibbert and Gray would become good NBA players. Not stars, but solid starters. Both at the time were considered late 1st, early 2nd guys, but I said both should be going around 20. Now Gray has gone 2nd round and doesn't look like he will be a big factor in the NBA and Hibbert has gone the opposite and is looking like a lottery pick. It just made me laugh that someone compared the two now.
