Fans greet Barcelona at public reception in LA

The cheers and shrieks of the crowd in Los Angeles on Saturday were reminiscent of the early days of 'Beatlemania' as hundreds of F.C. Barcelona fans greeted their heroes at a public reception in Los Angeles on Saturday, as the Spanish team continued its pre-season tour of Mexico and the United States.
Ronaldinho, the FIFA World Player of the Year, was escorted in, and that was good, because otherwise he never would have made it past his adoring throng of fans.
Once inside, Ronaldinho was greeted by N.B.A. superstar Kobe Bryant, who plays with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The six-foot-six (1.98 metres) Bryant, wearing a number 10 Ronaldinho shirt, towered over the Brazilian in a meeting of two of the most talented, and highly paid, athletes in the world.
There were also huge cheers for Mexico's national team captain Rafael Marquez.
Barcelona kicked off their pre-season tour with a 3-0 victory against Club Tigres in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday (4th August).
After Sunday's game with Mexico's Chivas of Guadalajara at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Primera Liga side will face Mexico's Club America in Houston on Wednesday, then Major League Soccer's Red Bulls in New York.
