Default How soon to Resign DIAW and for how much?

I think he should get around what Barbosa got or more seeing as how he produces more in all categories (ast, rebs, pts) and will have another solid year or even better than last.... that being said: 5 years - 30-40 mil

what do you guys think?

I would be extremely surprised and delighted if Diaw signed for 30 million. Even 40 million would be a decent deal. I see him getting about 45 million.

I was hoping the Suns would sign Diaw for 5 years at $40 million.

how tight would that be if 3-D didnt ask for that much on a five year contract? we all already know that he is gonna tear it up even more this year so this would be SICK!!!!!!!!!

Phoenix would be best served extending him before the season starts or he's gonna drive his value through the roof.

I think it'll be something around 5 years 50 million.

i think 5 for 50 sounds with 10% increases sounds good. Better to get the contract issues out of the way before the season starts

I agree. Lock up Diaw and this team is set. Nash, Marion, Amare, Barbosa, Banks and Diaw is the core now. Lock up Diaw and you have all of them on long term contracts, then get ready for the next draft.

Here's to hoping that the Hawks finish with the 4th worst record next year. How sweet would it be to add a player at the 4th pick with the pick ATL owes the Suns?

How much worse would the JJ deal be if Atlanta finiches with the worst record and gets screwed in the lottery, falls to pick 4.

5 years for 50 is probaly what Diaw will get. He is worth the contact though. If we can lock him up then we will be set for a championship run.

At this price, I think he's overrated. He can be worth it in Phoenix, in a year without Amare where he's asked to do a lot. But outside of Phoenix or teaming with Stoudamire, he will have a lesser role. Should Amare play most of next season, I predict his value will go pretty down.
And he's not sure he'll find another coach able to get all Mike got from him.
IMO 7-8 mil a year should be the right value.

It's hard to pay people in the Phoenix system, because Nash and D'Antoni make them so much better. They will sign him. And I'd say 8-9 mill should go to Diaw...

With the 9-10M per season that Diaw gets, Marion is almost certainly a goner.
