A couple things:

Don't forget that a 2007 #1 could be a very valuable pick. The draft is rumored to be extremely deep on talent.

Additionally, some of the other deals or fueled by expirers, since NJ will have to extend players like Krstic and the rest of the youth in the next couple of years.

Finally VC's contract is up after next season. I really can't picture, nor want us to extend with a max deal which I feel he will want and might be able to get from some teams desperate for talent and star power.
