Default Bynum out another 4-6 weeks

Man this sucks. He was just on KCAL 9 at the game and said hes still 4-6 weeks away. Maybe 1st of April. He said he will have at least 10-15 games under his belt before the playoffs. Has he seen the schedule? If he gets back April 2nd, there are only 8 games left. He didnt even sound sure he would be back by then.

The doctors dont even want him off his couch much so hes pretty far from playing in a game. In reality, I think hes out till the playoffs

I don't think this is anything new... the timing is still consistent with the original estimates.

From everything else we hear hes on time. I think they wanna take it a little slower because of our soft schedule right now and make sure he's 100% and not rushing in while we continue to win anyhow.

Well said... the urgency is not as much, other than we want to see them start playing together to develop chemistry.

How is April coming back on time? He went down Jan 13th and they said 8 weeks. That would mean he would be back March 9th. Early April is nearly another month longer than expected. So it would be more like 11-12 weeks, not 8.

I didnt say 11 weeks was on time, I was saying that everything we've read and heard said he would be back for March 9th, but the Lakers are probably taking precautions, and why not, they dont need him much right now, as long as he gets some PT to create chemistry before playoffs and we should be ok.

As long as he gets 6-8 games before the playoffs I wouldn't be too worried...the Lakers are playing amazing basketball right now so it doesn't look like there are any issues with not making the playoffs...

Ah ok. Well unfortunatley alot of waht we read and hear is speculation. He said himself he is out another 4-6 weeks. Doctors dont even want him up off the couch he said. He still has to rehab and condition for weeks before he even walks on the court. No way he comes back March 9th.

I am positive if they had not gotten Gasol, that Bynum would have come back earlier... thats why I said there's nothing new here.

Fortunately, the lakers have the luxury to make sure Bynum is as close to 100% as possible before returning to duty.

Its a good thing.

Is it true they can only take 12 players for playoff? If so, how does that work if he's not ready until the last few weeks? Does that mean Phil can only play 11 players while reserving the 12th seat for Bynum between Mar and Apr?

Well, I'd take Coby out before DJ since we're pretty deep at his position. We'll need DJ to get in foul trouble.
