Default here's a trade that works

try this one. All the primary players listed in this trade are "on-the-block" or S&Ts. the math works, too.

Sactown Kings get:
QRich (finally a real 2-guard for them, Salmons can swing 2 and 3)
David Lee

Lakers get:
Bonzi (via S&T. sorry VladRad, you're coming off the bench)

Knicks get:
Mihm (good backup and expiring contract)
McKie (much needed lockerroom presence and expiring contract)
Cook (good backup and expiring contract)

I like this because Bonzi can play 2 positions for us. Thus, Bonzi and VladRad can be on the court at the same time when Kobe sits. Assuming VladRad doesn't pout, do you like this trade?

I like the trade idea. Nice work. David Lee isnt worth everything to the Knicks anyways. I guess we could trade Mihm.

yup. I know signing him to a long-term contract is the key issue (cause he's not young). Maybe he would do a 3-yr with options.

Bonzi would be 6th man in L.A. Radman is our starter, which is why he agreed to come here.

Would we do a deal with the Devil (Sac Kings) in order to get Bonzi?

Why wouldn't we just do a straight up offer for Q-Rich? He's friends with Kobe and would agree to do the 6 man.

cause QRich is a 2. We shouldn't pay $7.5m for a backup 2. Bonzi often plays the 3 but can swing to the 2. VRad would have to come off the bench, which we all know is not what he wants.

The Kings have said they don't want to pay the luxary tax, so they aren't looking to add anymore players.

The best chance for LA to add Bonzi would be to sign him for a 1 year/LLE contract at around 2M.

unfortunately, I think you're right. The Kings did say that and they are near the tax threshold.
Thus, that is where the Bobcats come in. They must add contracts (or suffer the penalty). They can facilitate the trade.

y r the bobcats alwayz put in these conversations. I don't think they've made a significant move in their existance. 1 spendthrift (Johnson) + another (jordan) isn't gonna help anyone

About Q-Rich, yeah your right he would fit in. We should trade Cook for him or something because they dont even use him. He was so good with the Suns 2 seasons ago, but he went to Knicks thinking of more playing time. He'd be a good addition to the Lakers.

About the Kings, Bonzi would be a good backup but do you guys know if hes ok with playing as a 6th man? He was starting with Kings but wasnt with the Grizz. Maybe he will be ok as a 6th man.

dblock. quick explanation. all teams must have a minimum salary. if they don't meet that salary then, by the end of the season, they must pay the difference to their players on roster. Bobcats have only been in existence a few years. they are about $8m below the minimum. they must spend that $8m on players or give it to their roster at the end of the season. THAT is why they are in the conversations.

ok, I get it, but y would they not fill the gap by adding actual good players that were available, n wait 4 the well 2 dry up just so they could add salary 4 the sake of it.

1st there are not many (any?) good players available to whom you would want to give a longterm contract when you are building from the ground up. You want your good young players to get the playing time. Thus, the strategy would be to add only expiring contracts of players who can either help on the court (Mihm) or tutor young players with professionalism (McKie).
