Default Why don't the Nets pick up Anthony Carter

Why has not anybody brought this guy in the mix?
Anthony Carter (Min. Tinmberwolves)
1.) Unrestricted Free Agent
2.) Low price tag
3.) Veteran guard
4.) A back up point for insurance in case Williams has the jitters early in the season. Or, if an injury pops up we would be screwed without a third point gaurd.
5.) He would be needed during the playoffs
Is it just me or is this a no brainer?
Let me hear what you guys think.

he would be a good addition as insurance. He would mentor Williams. I think the Nets havent been interested in him because they are focusing on Rush,House right now. I think if those 2 options fall through, the Nets will look at him

doesn't seem like he makes a big enough difference. They have only like 1 more spot and they need another jumpshooter

and williams doesn't really need a mentor, thats going to be one of Kidd's jobs...

They don't need somebody to mentor Williams. They have Kidd.

the Nets need a combo guard who can handle minutes at point guard, but is primarily a shooter

Why?

For the same reason the other 29 teams in the league haven't....he sucks.

Besides we're still holding out for House or Rush with our one roster spot left.

He can't shoot, he can't run an offense. All he does is defend well. Don't really need him.

Why don't the Nets pick up Anthony Carter?

Simple, because they have Vince Carter.

Listen. I Love the pick up of our new rookie gaurd but, We need to look at what would happen if J-Kidd gets hurt, Think about it. Williams is not experienced enough yet to step in and be fully effective (I'm being realistic). I am also happy that we got House but, Anyone who thinks he is going to step in and run the Nets at point guard is sadly mistaken. He will be good for 10-15 minutes at point and thats all. He is not a distributor. He is a shooter. What we will be forced to do is have Vince bring up the ball and he will exert so much energy halfway through the season and he will burn out. At least Anthony Carter is a point guard. He will not score ten points, ten assists and ten rebounds a game but, He will get the ball past halfcourt during a press. I do not need him to score. We got Vinsanity, R.J. & Nenad for that.
Any Nets fan knows for the past few years since Anthony Johnson left. It is nerve racking to watch the nets (protect the ball) when J-Kidd takes a breather. The Nets fall apart. You all know it. I'm not saying Anthony Carter is a super star. I'm saying he is a veteran that will get us through some minutes while J-Kidd sits for a quick breather. I can't beleive you nets fans (like me) don't see this? Injuries happen. Remember when J-Kidd got injured a few years back? How did that year pan out? Young Williams will be very good but we could still use an veteran 3rd string point in case of an injury. You watch...If J-Kidd gets hurt. The Nets will not pass the 1st round. Oh and by the way.. Who would take a trade Anthony Carter for Mcinness? We all would.

wat if VC gets injured? wat if RJ gets injured? injuries are uncontrollable but if Kidd was to get injured it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world to have Marcus Williams start, Brandon Roy and Randy Foye will be seeing alot more minutes than Marcus and he was rated better than both of them by alot of draft analysts, and look at wat Cris Paul did last year

if Marcus cant handle it House is fine to help take some PG minutes off his hands, we dont need Anthony Carter

Eddie House will be needed more for the two spot backup. House is a scorer not a point guard. As for the other comments about other young guards that have suceeded as young guards. They had very good indavidual stats but, they were not competing for a championship. Does anybody get it? I'm looking at the big picture. The Nets have about two years left of the J-Kidd era, We need to win now and be able to avoid any minor obstacles along the way. Someone asked about what if R.J got hurt or if V.C got hurt. Those two can compensate for each other until the other gets well. No one can fill such an important role as J-Kidd for the nets.
