The lead went from 25 to 22 with Kobe in, then he went out, I wouldn't label scoring 3 points as starting a comeback. It went from 22 to 12 with Kobe on the bench.

I'm not saying that Kobe is free of all blame or that he played a great 4th... but the comeback obviously came with him on the bench, and I'd rather have him pass out of doubles than forcing and shooting over them when he's not on.

I the heck doid Avery Johnson get Dirk the ball at the three point line when he had such a small athletic guy guarding him and only needing 2 points to tie?

Avery should have gotten Dirk the ball on the post. Dikr has a muich better chanc eof beating Odom on the low post rather than IDOed on the perimter.. That;s why Dikr eneded up fumbling the ball..

Oh wait.. not I remember why.. because if Dirk goes on the post they will jusdt double him and force the ball out of his hands and dare another Mav to beat them from the perimeter.. just like the Warriors did all through that series.

So Avery has made no progress since then..

I've got to give props to LOKI, he called Odom THE Dirk stopper before last game, and he once again shut Dirk down ... wait, did he?

35/11/5 blocks for Dirk. You're a joke Loki.

I wouldn't exactly go that far and I've only seen the last 3-4 minutes of the game but yes, Odom was giving Dirk fits. And he always does.
In fact, I'd go as far as call Odom a GREAT defender when defending people such as himself, basically the lanky tweener in built types like Dirk, David West, Al Harrington etc. Odom always does great against those guys.

Well, since they did not call Dirk for the obvious foul on Turiaf's fast break layup, we will call it even.

the dirk no call was a make up for a no call dirk got right before the kobe 360 layup. he got hammered with no call on that play. both of those plays were laughably bad calls though. as was the odom play. that said the mavs didnt lose this game because of officiating. we lost it because we have the worst coach in the nba, and because the lakers supporting cast out played the mavs supporting cast.

Avery really needs to be fired. That game was lost when he did not put Kidd back in after they pulled to within 5 early in the 4th. Moron.

Every game is like this. Officiating is not perfect. Would you want a referee performing heart surgery on you, your relatives, Bill Clinton. Certainly Bill Clinton. The amount of mistakes per game are enough to make a difference in the outcome.

the only way poor officiating would damage the nbas credibility is if it was consistantly done with bias. there are mistakes, but they are applied, if that is the right word, to all teams. there was that one study done that implied a bias toward giving white players better calls, but it was only one study, and the bias turned out to amount to perhaps like five calls per year.

It was one of the worst calls I have seen made all season. Horrible call.

But the Lakers played a hell of a game. VladRad was an absolute killer. Dirk & Kobe both put in superstar performances, it was the Lakers supporting cast that outplayed the Mavs supporting cast.

And yet, keep in mind, this Lakers team is at like 40 % strength.

BTW, here's a beautiful quote I got from the Mavs forum, it's so great that just...wow.

Quote:
I fear and loathe Kobe. We have nobody on our team who is anything like him ... someone so completely sure of his superiority that he can decide that he will not lose tonight, and then go make it happen.

It is my hope that he doesn't feel that way against us.
