The Big Three has decent reputation
Default Robert Vaden

How good is he? Seems to have good measurements for a guard, and he can score pretty well. High percentages. Could he be a good NBA backup?

You must be watching the NIT. He is not a streaky shooter, he is a dead-eye shooter. No lead is safe when he is on the floor.Stepped up and put his team on his back even though at the start of the season he was the third best player on his team. Ability to move without the ball is elite. His handle is a bit loose but he can get to the lane on the college level. Is a little matador on the defensive end but has shown improvement since his days at Indy. Solid passer and high bball IQ.

Do you think he could be a future NBA draft pick? He's still got another year of eligibility to improve on his skills.

At worst he is a designated shooter in the Dennis Scott mode. He is already playing in a NBA style offense so the play book should not be a problem. Going to Portsmouth and the pre-draft camp next year and lighting it up could propel him up in the 25-30 range a team with aging shooters like the Spurs would be a great fit.

Man that'd be great if he came to San Antonio, especially since Finley and Barry are getting ready to retire.

Good game so far, VCU just hit a three and are only down 3. Maynor is another NBA caliber guy who had a rough start. What's the report on him if you'd be so kind to analyze his play? He seems like a very good penetrator.

Maynor is a very good penetrator. He could be deadly in today's handcheckless association as he can get to any spot on the floor he wants. He has shown the ability to be a floor general but at this point in his development he looks to score first. Steps up in big situations against good teams but the downside of this is that he can be drawn into scoring duels against other elite players. Great defensive potential which is what would/will allow him to stick with a team on the NBA level.

I like both of these guys you bring up as good bench players. But there is a big difference between them. With Vaden, you know what you get. You get a shooter off the bench. He is a bit undersized and doesn't have the complete game you look for in a starter, but he can shoot the ball with anyone.

As for Maynor, you don't have any idea what kind of player you are getting. As Dasher said, his scoring is his biggest stregth, but you can also see his passing ability. If put in a different situation that VCU where he needs to score, I think he could be one of the top passers in the nation. His defense is also strong the defensive end, and his quickness will allow him to create some turnovers. His size seems like an issue, but he is a solid 6-2 I would say, and if put on an NBA workout program would be able to add the extra pounds without losing his quickness. I just don't know what direction he would go as a pro. I could see another Bobby Jackson, but I also think he could be an Anthony Carter type where he almost averages as many assists as he does points just because that is what the team needs him to do.
