Default Knicks Expiring Contracts Scenarios

With Jalen Rose & Mo Taylor expiring contracts due up this year, what do you think the Knicks are going to do with them? Are they going to let them expire, or package both to get a big name guy here?

I have my own thoughts on this. What are yours?

knowing isiah i dont think he is gonna let them expire. i dont think were ever gonna be under the cap. well not for awhile. so i think zeke is gonna trade jalen to get a pick and a player that is good on defense. same with mo.

THe right move is to let them expire. They don't need to take back any more contracts and they have talent.

I agree, i think the right move is to let them expire. We look like we may be on the boarder of the lottery and the 8th playoff spot. (playing just under .500 will probably get you an 8th spot). If we're able to compete, you know zeke will pull his itchy trigger finger and make a deal. Something tells me that he may package those two for Garnett and some throw-ins(eddie griffin & bracey wright would work under the CBA), especially if the Wolves have a terrible start to their season. It would just be up to the Wolves to part ways with him.

I just hope its not K-Mart. Please dont give me K-Mart zeke. PLEASE!

Default just sayin

The problem is two fold when it comes to Jalen

1) They cannot trade Jalen for a pick and a player unless that player being acquired is making 75% of what Jalen makes or at least $13.52 million or the other team is under the cap. Currently only Atlanta and Charlotte are under the cap and why would they want to have Jalen for 1/2 a year in exchange for a future pick. The answer of course is that they would not want that ever, at all, not a chance etc.

2. More likely a team may take Jalen and his aged skills in exchange for someone who is overpaid and on a longer term contract. This person will be better than Jalen but have 4 years behind him at $14.75 million per year.

Remember Isiah runs 99% of the team so start guessing on what bad contract were getting at the deadline...

I'd let them expire,.. No team is willing to trade future draft picks for overpaid, under-achieving, aged players.. So Zeke should let them expire. Draft a defensive-minded athletic center, and a pass-first point guard. Next year's draft is gonna be top-heavy with centers and power forwards. The mid is gonna have a few 5's and 4's.

Every sane Knick fan would let them expire. The only problem is, Isiah Thomas isnt a sane Knick fan, so who knows....

With KG the Knicks become an instant contender -- if he can be obtained for excess players. Add his heart and 23 points and 13 rebounds per game and you have a great team! I'd want to keep Marbury, Curry, Frye, Crawford and possibly Lee and Nate. Everyone else is expendable IMHO including Francis.

Imagine this starting line up:
C: Curry
PF: KG
SF: Jeffries or Lee
SG: Francis or Crawford
PG: Marbury
