He really came on when he started getting pt. The stints in the d-league helped him. Still very raw and needs a lot of development, especially on defense. But you can clearly see he is very talented.
He's not close to being a solid contributor but he's getting there. The stints in the D League were a definate help, and the time he gets with the Celts is good for his confidence. He doesn't really look lost when he's out there, he's just not on the same talent level yet.

That's backwards. G has the talent and then some, but he definitely looks lost, especially on defense. All he can be relied on to do right now is, when given the ball, score. And that's great from someone with is low experience level. But he can't or doesn't do anything else right now.
Gerald will be awesome, one day. Just kid a now. I think he will develop quicker with more court-time if given the chance. Will learn the defensive tricks and rotations that he is lacking in time, as long as he has a good work ethic. Which apparently he does. I just hope that he comes along quick enough and that the Celtics brass show enough patience that when he does become awesome he is still wearing green. I am loathe to think of a situation like Jermaine O'neal or T-Mac that 4 years down the track he becomes dominant for a different club.........
Why is it sad? He was 19/20 years old. expecting him to be a complete player would be extremely unrealistic. Let's keep his age in mind and try not to expect too much too soon, just let him learn the game and see how he develops.
Lol fouling someone on a full court shot is pretty dumb. But Gerald seems to have all the tools to be a lockdown defender, hopefully someone will teach him.
It was sad because he fouled someone on a Full court shot. If that's not sad defense, I don't know what is?
I am not saying he won't improve, he will. It is just a matter of 2 years or so where his defense will be good.
I just don't see the cause to be "sad." May just be a matter of phrasing, but to me, stupid plays and young players go hand-in-hand. The coaching staff can't tolerate it, of course, but we fans might as well expect ti because they're not going to play wisely.
one things for sure we cant let him go like the raps did with t mac, green gonna be sick and every celtics fan who saw him play toward the end of the season when he was gettin burn knows it, specially that nasty off the backboard, i'd like him to be a starter next season and let him get better

TO didn't choose to let him go, he chose to leave.
