Default How did we do it? Spurs destruction

I missed it!

I saw Memo went crazy!
I'm most interested in the specific defense.
Did Memo stop Timmy?
How did we handle the 3?
Parker, Manu, did we get help D or did they just never beat us?

Please I gotta know.

I figure first of all the Jazz came out with motivation, and it looked like a playoff game from the very start. Tons of extra hustle in the first and second quarter.... just don't see that very often. I think this got to the Spurs and they new they were in for a battle.

For the most part I would credit it to help defense, the Jazz looked great sliding off of screens and then getting back to there guy. And in the mean time someone else helped cover the helpers. The rotation defense was just awesome!
It's easier to cover the paint then the three and Duncan just couldn't manange the crowding in the paint. I don't know for sure other than that....Duncan just never seemed to break out, didn't get enough touches in my view of things.

The other thing I would say is the Jazz are just killing oponents with there offense. They are jamin with the half court, Deron knows when to push it and got tons of fast break points when they needed that, and EVERY one is making there three's. The court was so open because of the threes dropping SA had now choice but try to play one on one and with five players scoring, the basket options came easy for the Jazz. Amazing offense. If the jazz continue to hit the threes they are unstoppable against any team.
Oh and because it was spread out and Duncan was out of the paint gaurding memo, the Jazz were getting tons of rebounds.... second chance points. Just AWESOME offense.

You asked about Parker and G. They tried on occasion to drive and shoot, and drive and dish but; the Jazz's help defense was too great for them and they were getting double and triple teamed and the Jazz were rotating on defense so well the open man wasn't an option for the pass and shoot. Jazz just simple shut down the Spurs offense.

(sorry so long, couldn't help but explain so much!)

Wow.
I saw Boozer get excited about D on Garnett and Dirk so far this season.
Is there hope for him to get Malone hands?
If he could guard elite PF's man to man, we would be better off.
I don't expect him to start blocking shots, just stay down and swipe.

Safe to say you shouldn't judge much from that one crazy game. As good as the Jazz were, the Spurs just didn't show up at all in any way

You're right on Jeff, tonight's road game vs the Hornets is the real test.

You dont think if utah sets their mind to it and plays like they did n Nawlins and Boston they can't beat the spurs?

I was bored so I tried to see what it may look like, if it starts to go like this we may be rooting for the nuggets to beat the rockets. We really only have a chance if we win out. If we dont then im fine with where we are but imagine us with the 2nd best record in the west knowing the only team who has homecout over us is the hornets. And how likely is it for us to meet them in the WCF? Although if the rockets continue on we may have to face LAL in the 2nd round and even with homecourt thats not a team I want to play 2nd round.

Wow. That looks excellent.
Home court on Houston/Phoenix would be enough for me, though.

Theres a very good chance that we will have to go through them to get to the finals. I would like to save it for the WCF or would prefer another team knocking them out. what would be ideal is.

1-Hornets
8-Nuggets/Warriors(doesnt matter really)

4-Jazz
5-Rockets

3-Lakers
6-Suns

2-Spurs
7-Dallas

Well, it looks like we're pretty much locked into the 4th seed in the west, and most likely will have to start out on the road. I think its also safe to say that we'll be playing Houston in the first round (again). This is good for us because Houston is probably the weakest team in the western playoff picture. Without Yao, they're really gonna struggle in the playoffs. Utah should be able to win the series in 6 games.

Denver can definitely beat New Orleans in the first round, and that would be good for us because Utah has dominated Denver this season. We would also have home court against them in the second round. Utah could probably beat Denver in 5 or 6 games.

That would put us in the WCF against whoever manages to survive the bottom bracket. Anybody who tries to predict that half is crazy.
