Default I needs the most epic rap albums of all time

For some reason my brain is telling me rap sounds fresh again. I have ignored the genre for a long time.

I know all the real stuff pre-2000. I was into rap a lot back then and the early 2k's.

I need the best **** from 2000- present. NO POP RAP (ie. the average rap from the south that gets played all the time).

I want mean gangsta **** and smart ****. I prefer beats sounding like Alchemist when he was with Mobb or anything NY street like (the production on albums from Talib, Mos, Common, Nas etc.). No over production 50-cent sounding **** or that **** from the south.

I need some shiiit, but only the real epic ****.

ps. If there's anything decent from down south and out west then I have no problem.

Basically anything Jay-Z, he is the only one who really raps with meaning, rhyme, rythem, flow that gets topped with an epic beat.

Every album from Cunninlynguists is great. Kno is an amazing producer, and both are solid lyricists with plenty of features by other nice mc's.

Tonedeff - Archetype. Must have.

You should check out Late registration, and College Dropout by Kanye West, before he went mainstream. Obviously those are his best albums because they were heavily based on Jay-Z

He wants **** after 2000.

Dasher, I don't think his first two were mainstream, they got success, but were smart with lyrics and had meaning.

Not everyone's cup of tea but I always mention K-os in "good modern rap" threads. He doesnt stricly rap but his stuff is always good.

Try looking at:

K-os- Atlantis: Hymns for Disco
K-os- Joyful Rebellion

k-os is - when at his best - absolutely brilliant. sometimes it's just weird.

here one of my faves: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Bdc2DL-GWn8&feature=related

this song wouldn't sound out of place on michael jacksons thriller.

it's not really an opinion. it's fact. maybe you have a slight misconception of the definition of the word though.
