Default taking it hard to the hole.

being a 5'7/5'8 guard i love taking it hard to the basket but i often get blocked. my friends say i look down too much and they say it has become a habit. for those who are well at taking it hard to the basket do you have any tips? like how d-wade does it, he drives in and theres like 3 man under the hole and he still makes it, is it just that he can guide his hand enough during his hang time or what?

Creativity. You just need to be creative. You can't just drive it in and finger roll it everytime, do something different everytime you take it.

try jump stops and pump fakes, hop steps, you just gotta switch it up

if there's a big guy just get a floater up off the glass

learn to dribble with your head up so you can hit the open man. one piece of advice is always look at the opposite corner of the backboard when you're dribbling, then you can see the entire court

^^ Pretty much it

But you need hops for taking it hard. Thats what Iverson/DWADE do all the time, they jump and their up there long enough to move around people and get an open shot.

one of my biggest problem besides the fact that i look down when i go for a layup is that i dont use the backboard enough. i overheard a coach telling his guy to 'use the backboard, thats what its there for.' and im trying to simulate that into my game.

Taking it into the trees is always asking for it, basketball skills aside (head up, leaping ability, vision, creativity, anticipation) the single most important thing is confidence.

you also want to work on your grip so you dont bust your load before you get to the hole... or the rim i mean.
