dan the automator always brings the best out of emcees in these sorta concept albums. kool keith hasn't matched the original dr octagon album, and probably won't. del hasn't released anything as dope as this joint since (his new album is eh), either.

great beats, great rhymes.

I'll look into that. I heard about A Prince Among Thieves by Prince Paul a while ago, and haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet. It's supposed to be amazing.

definitely check that album out... it features a dude named breezly brewin, from a crew called the juggaknots (extremely underrated) as the main character/rapper. paul even produced a video for it:

Go out and get that too!

Price of Thieves is a great concept album about a struggling rapper trying to get in the game. He doesn't have the money and starts hustling (selling drugs) to make it (reluctantly). its a story.

Every song is like a chapter and builds up to the climax at the end.

The album has it all, Great lyrice, AMAZING beats (Prince Paul of course).

Some cool guests spots too (Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock etc)

The lead rapper on the album is Breeze. You'll be blown away by this guys skills, he is sick and does a great job carrying the album.

"Hung from a tree in Johannesburg, halo's were found at the landing site" that's crazy **** right there. I used to get stoned and listen to this album just tripping balls.

Yeah Kool Keith is crazy as hell, but thats why he's one my favourite rappers of all time.

Doctor Octagon is definately on some other shyt, and the space rhymes are out there.

"Armed with siz rounds of space doo-doo pistols" LOL.

Good looking man, nice to see some Doc Oc/Kook Keith fans on here.

Eh yo, check out Project Polaroid, heres a link to clips of songs from the album

http://www.amazon.com/Project-Polaro.../dp/B000F8DTRI

This might be Keiths best album in years. The beats are very much Automater-like (the producer TOMC is sick).

Its the closest sounding album to Octagon Kook Keith has made since then. The sound is very similar.

So I just gave Dr. Octagonecologyst a listen. Can't say I'm as high on it as I am on Deltron. It's good, and Dan really drives in that eeriness with his production, but I think I'll need to give it a few more listens to fully appreciate it. I doubt I'll ever like it as much as Deltron, but it'll take a lot to get to that level. Keith's style is quicker than Del's and... more offbeat I suppose, so it's harder to catch everything he says. I think another listen will do me well.

One thing I wasn't a fan of were the hooks. So repetitive, without much to them at all.

Just listened to Mastermind again. Damn man, amazing track.

How did your link go down that quickly?

Anyways, November Has Come? Dirty Harry? Clint Eastwood? DARE? Kids With Guns?

So many great tracks. Which one did you [try to] post?

Edit: Actually read the message I got after clicking your link. Apparently I can't get it in my country, for whatever reason.

I hope it was me that tipped you off to this album. One of the most brilliant accomplishments in hip hop history. absolute genius. top to bottom a hip hop MASTERPIECE.

Prince Amongst Thieves is also excellent, conceptual story album, a "hip hopera" Prince Paul can do no wrong (where you at De La Soul?) and made each track unique and gets a lot of out of some guys you wouldn't expect (Everlast from House of Pain KILLS it, Chubb Rock is my fave track on it). The story is a little cliche and isn't as good as 3030 -- didn't leave the same impression on me deltron did. Still amazing. NO WAY is dr. octagon or dr. doom as good as deltron. kool keith is good but he has a lot of contrived labored sh*t that is just weird for the sake of weird because he fancies himself/labeled himself this mad eccentric genius. he isn't half the communicator that del is. I love Dr. Octagon (if i ever buy flowers for girls they're blue) but what del and dan the automater did with 3030 is unparalleled. relentless lyrically.

Got to give credit to Dan the Automator and Kid Koala though... both are sick in their own right... Del is a great lyricist, but he's def surrounded by just as great producers.

I remember listening to this album, 3030, when it came out... I was in 8th grade, and my dad was actually jammin Del hahaha... guess you could say he got me into it.

I also remember catching Del live here in San Antonio around 04-05... was a good show... only track he threw down off the album was "Virus" which the whole crowd seemed to know by heart... also threw down "Mistadobalina" which owned the place.

not really related, by I'm a big fan of Busdriver as well. "Fear of a Black Tangent" is one of my favorite 'underground hip hop' albums for sure.
