But trades HAVE to happen. We don't have enough rosters to not touch it. Do you suggest we trade all of our picks for a bunch of future picks?

Well trade and draft are a bit different( I know they overlap a lot). I think a new point guard in the draft would be good, but I think that you shouldn't trade away some of our current players.... I don't care if they bring new ones in though, just not a major veteran. There are a few players who I wouldn't care to see traded...but thats just along the lines of Von Wafer, McRoberts, and Lafrentz.

Dang guys, you got to give something up to get a good player in return.

And we are in dier need of a starting pg, Blake and JJ are career back-ups.
Calderon would be a pretty big up-grade over Blake. He is a better shooter, passer, not to mention he leads the leauge in assist/turnover ratio. He can create off the dribble, i dont know any aspect of Blakes game that Calderon isnt better at.

Teams arent gonna take our garbage for their studs.

Calderon should have been an all-star this year, he will likely be one on the future. And you wouldnt give up our 2nd string pg and the #13 for him.

Calderon is MOST DEF worth JJ+#13.

I will remind you Calderon played in Spain with Rudy, if we could get Calderon there is NO DOUBT Rudy would want to play for us, and it would help him tremendousley in the NBA to have Calderon with him. It would probably boost Calderons game as well.

If we want to trade for a quality player, we are gonna have to give up a quality player, thats the way it works.

JJ+#13 for Calderon would be a STEAL for the Blazers.

Look for KP to make a strong push to get Calderon this off-season.

I'm curious what types of trades you would do then. You can only have 15 players on a roster. We currently have 14 (now that Miles is gone). Then you take away Von Wafer and we have 13. Then you add Rudy and we have 14 again. Then we have the 13th pick (99% likely) and 3 2nd round picks. That gives us 18 assets and we'll have to find a way of getting that down to 15. So what are your thoughts?

Well, then just forfeit the draft pick I guess.

I wouldn't consider it wise just to forfeit 3 draft picks.

Pretty much. Take #13, trade everything else for future picks.

There is no one we will be drafting at #13.

I dont see us using the #13 pick.
We will either trade up, or just trade the pick.

We have no use for the #13

You also are forgetting about Joel Freeland who may be coming over this summer as well. I think it depends on if Portland moves Frye, LaFrentz or Outlaw. He probably doesn't want to come over with Portland's crowded front court. Maybe Portland will throw in his rights along with Jack & #13 for Calderon.

I don't think Portland will use the #13 unless the Italian slips that low which I highly doubt he will. I also think KP is going to completely make this draft super confusing like he did a couple years ago with, I believe it was, four trades in the night.

Could we see four or more during the draft this year to get rid of Jack, Wafer, LaFrentz and picks?

Possible

I wish there was some way we could trade for Nash instead of Calderon.

Why Nash?

He is probably the worst defending starting point guard in the NBA. If Shaq and Amare can't stop all the penetration to point guards he gives up then I highly doubt LaMarcus and Oden could.

I'd rather have a good defending point guard who has a good assist/turnover ratio and is the fifth shooting option than a point guard like Steve Nash who is, lets not forget, leaving his prime while Calderon is entering his prime.

I'd only take Nash if we could sign him for the veterans minimum and have his main role be train a young PG.

I never said in place of Calderon.

Nash > Jack
Calderon > Blake

It's a pipe dream to get both at the moment, though if we traded for Calderon and Nash was waived/not resigned it would be a distinct possibility.

Nash would never come to the Blazers.

And I doubt the Blazers would want him.
