I see why it was in the "dream" offseason topic. And why would we want to get rid of James Jones?

If Toronto Trade Doesn't Work
Sign Chris Duhon to a two year deal for about $3-5 million a year with a player option for a third season.

Trade Raef LaFrentz + ALL NBA draft picks in the 2008 NBA Draft for an All-Star caliber small forward like Ron Artest, Josh Howard or Corey Maggette.

Trade Channing Frye, Jarrett Jack & Martell Webster to New Jersey for Devin Harris & Josh Boone.

Trade James Jones for Rasual Butler

Bring over Joel Freeland and Rudy Fernandez

Devin Harris/Steve Blake/Chris Duhon
Brandon Roy/Rudy Fernandez
Corey Maggette/Travis Outlaw/Rasual Butler
LaMarcus Aldridge/Josh Boone/Joel Freeland/Josh McRoberts
Greg Oden/Joel Przybilla

:)

I don't think the Nets will trade Devin Harris - I personnally have no desire for Boone - he shoots in th 40% range from the line......

I like your idea of signing Chris Duhon - I think he's very underrated. I like James Jones. I have found little to nothing of note regarding Joel Freeland - does anyone know if he's even playing with a team overseas???

I said Rasual Butler because he is more athletic and can simply do more things than James Jones.

Yeah, Jersey probably won't trade Harris, but we're here if they want to LOL

I have no problem with Boone. He played decently this season.

Joel Freeland played on the Blazers summer league team last season. There are vids on YouTube.

So, I haven't seen it here but I've in the past seen people mention Richard Jefferson. I've always been indifferent to the idea of getting him (but leaning towards not getting him) because I want a defensive stopper at the SF position and Jefferson is paid too much (not really a major problem considering Raef would have to be involved to trade for him). I now hope that we don't get him because I want to keep our image clean and Jefferson has been in the news recently: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3385685

What do you guys think about the possibility of trading for him though?

Did we pass up San Francisco? I knew we were 2nd for the longest time, but wasn't sure if we passed up San Fran.

Last I heard we were first

LOL

Anyways, I'd like him here, even if Portland would become the butt end (no pun intended) of gay jokes.

I have no problem with him being gay, I do have a problem with him choking guys without a safety word.

Anyways

Opinions on these players

Chris Duhon
Luol Deng
Ben Gordon
Ron Artest
Josh Howard
Grant Hill
Richard Jefferson
Josh Smith
James Posey
Daniel Gibson
Theo Ratliff
Matt Barnes
Corey Maggette
Trevor Ariza

These are a list of guys I wouldn't mind if Portland brought in...all are free agents besides Josh Howard and Richard Jefferson

Chris Duhon - Unnecessary, I don't think he upgrades us, but he's a decent backup PG
Luol Deng - For the right price
Ben Gordon - No, needs the ball too much to be effective
Ron Artest - No, no, no, no, etc.
Josh Howard - Hmmm... the confession of toking up bothers me but if he can stay defensive minded he would be perfect.
Grant Hill - Only if we had him for the vets minimum to use him as a teacher
Richard Jefferson - No, we don't need a scorer, we need a defender, plus he is in trouble for choking a man, which is worse than Howard smoking pot.
Josh Smith - He would be great, but I don't see it happening
James Posey - No, too old yet I don't see him being as good of a teacher as Hill could be
Daniel Gibson - No. I like Boobie, but Steve Blake is a better fit for the what we need. Plus, I'm not seeing him leaving the Cavs without a tremendous check louring him.
Theo Ratliff - Only if he is cheap and willing to take Raef LaFrentz' role on the team.
Matt Barnes - Can he defend? If so, yes. If not, maybe.
Corey Maggette - Same as Matt Barnes
Trevor Ariza - I don't think he'd upgrade us, so no.

Matt Barnes is actually a decent defender, I would love Theo Ratliff just for the simple fact that he can further teach Greg Oden how to play defense in the NBA but I wouldn't be surprised if an old NBA legend joined the Blazer coaching staff to work with Oden...maybe Olajuwon, Walton or Mutombo after he retires.
