Think about how it basically went down to who was going to win the conference, then think about how many 2nd place votes CP3 got, and the overall score, it's not the big of a margin as the radio made it seem.

Player, Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Total Points
Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers 82 32 11 2 - 1105
Chris Paul, New Orleans 28 64 31 2 - 889

I'm not surprised that a radio station in LA would leave out such air-time consuming detail, however.

No it shouldn't have. Kobe led the Lakers to the top spot in the toughest conference the NBA has seen in 20 years while doing so w/o his starting center for 1/2 of the season and w/o Pau Gasol for 3/4 of the season.

Chris Paul had his starting lineup pretty much together for the entire season and still finished behind Kobe and the Lakers in the standings.

This should have been a unanimous selection.

It's just an opinion. I thought it would be closer in terms of 1st place votes. They both deserved it, but KB deserved it more. I'm not agreeing with the fact that it should have been a unanimous selection though.

Either way, the most deserving candidate won. That's all that matters.

Nah MJ and AI were both 2 guards. He might be the 3rd to win though.

Think of it this way...you agree that Kobe is 1 and Paul is 2 right? Well, most of the voters shared the same opinion.

Word. Paul is definitely a worthy candidate but Kobe basically did this with a limited squad and playing through a fractured/torn pinky on his SHOOTING hand.

Kobe

Oh yes, 82 first place votes, of course it wasn't close.

Unless you consider a 216 points differential a close call.
Hahaha, sour grapes. I wish they showed your post in the conference.

Kobe deserved to be the MVP this year, but 82 to 28? I thought Paul made a strong enough case to get more than 28 votes.

All is well though, the player who deserved it, got it.
