Man, I didn't want to whine, but screw it.

Think back to that 3 point gift at the end of the 3rd in game 2. This series could be 2-1 Magic with the home court.

Man if the refs didn't screw the Pistons on that phantom foul… we could have four championships and been the first team to three peat since the Celtics

Bad calls happen. Lets just move on.

Its 2-1 now and Detroit has a huge question mark… May very well be a repeat of 2003. An injured Billups means getting swept in the ECF…

They're both primarily face to the basket bigs. I see a lot of similarities.

Yes, ball calls happen all the time, but not ones that the league plainly admits was a mistake and could have easily been prevented. TNT had the replays RIGHT THERE and could make the determination on the spot, but the NBA with it's draconian rules wouldn't allow that new-fangled technology to make "the most prestigious referees in the land" look bad.

Of course, I'm being overly sarcastic, but you get the point.

Dwight Howard is a face to the basket big? Since when?

Dwight Howard played guard all the way through school, was always most comfortable facing the basket in the NBA and was only forced to get down on the post and start learning when Brian Hill took over; a skill he still doesn't have. Dwight does not play like, nor is he used in the same way as back to the basket players like Shaq or Kareem.

Even when fed the ball in the post (unless both feet are in the paint), he is still most comfortable and most effective spinning to the baseline to dunk facing the basket, turning to face the defender and the basket and taking him off the dribble, or setting a high pick facing the basket and rolling hard.

Not unlike Ewing at age 22, back to the basket skills in the low post are something that Dwight will almost certainly be working on over the next few years.

There will be amendments in the rules this summer thats for sure.

Magics played well down the stretch tonight where it mattered most. Good game, Orlando. In a must win game, you won. *tips hat*

Dwight was a face to the basket player in High School... but this isn't High School.

Because of all the muscle he has put on, his FT% has gone to absolute **** since joining the NBA. He used to be 75%+ in HS.

He would not currently do well facing the basket in the NBA even if that was all he had worked on because it's not the same as HS where he's literally twice as quick as everyone else. He's still quick, but with the ball? Not so much.

If he didn't play in the post he might as well not even be in the league.

lol, look who's back

"Would not do well even if"... Not sure how to even respond to that given thats how Dwight is used on this team now.

Most effective / common Dwight Howard offensive plays
1.) Getting up on the offensive glass facing the basket for dunks.
2.) Showing out high for Hedo or Jameer, setting a pick, and facing the basket and rolling hard.
3.) Pushing his way deep in the paint, catching and rising up for a dunk with zero dribbles.
4.) Catching the ball outside the paint. Turning to face his defender and taking him to the hole.
5.) Catching the ball outside the paint, using his quickness to spin around his defender, facing the basket for an open dunk.

Least effective and common Dwight Howard offensive plays
1.) Catching the ball outside the paint with back to the basket, waiting for the passer to cut through, then attempting to put the ball on the floor where it's promptly stolen.
2.) Catching the ball outside the paint with back to the basket, waiting for the double team and finding the open shooter. Again the ball generally promptly stolen.
3.) Catching the ball with a foot in the paint, without dribbling, spinning baseline, or toward the paint for a bank or hookshot. Still not a skill Dwight has mastered, makes some, but at least not turned over.

Um, he doesn't yet have an efficient low post game and hate to let you know he's not only in the league, he's dominating it.
