Default 1st Year

This upcoming season marks my first basketball season that I'm going to play on my high school team. I'm a senior and am not that worried about it. I play alot of pickup games and play with the team a good bit. They say I'm a shoo-in so I'm not too worried about making the team. I was just wondering if anyone else started as late as me and any tips for any problems I may come across.

playing high school ball is a lot different than playing pick up ball

I know it sounds stupid, but play your coaches. Since you have'nt been playing for them for 3+ years like your teamates, then they dont know you and may not play you as much. Never underestimate the power of familiar...

To counter act this, you need to come off as the nitty-gritty all defense, workaholic and no-nonsense basketball player willing to take one for the team to get the win. Coachs see this and recognize either one of two things. 1) This guy means buisness and deserves a shot or 2) HOLY S**T, why didnt we have this guy playing for us these past few years?!?!

Either way, getting your foot in the door with the coaches makes all the diffrence.
