Default Andrew Bynum, Smush, #1 for Al Harrington???

Please put all Al Harrington related topics in here, so the board is cleaner

Lee "Hacksaw" on AM570 just said the Lakers and Hawks are talking sign and trade.

He said players that might be involved:

Andrew Bynum, Smush, #1 for Al Harrington

I have no idea what the hell the Lakers are thinking but this plain stupid

note: Thanks to kobe24 for bringing this under attention

This trade sounds a little bogus i mean there is no way the lakers would be that desperate for Al harrington this trade could be true but bynum cant be included at all

Mitch is our GM guys. Emplay(Lakers insider) reported that the Lakers are still in contact with ATL. Also,Harrington himself said that the Lakers proposed a deal(while ago) to ATL but got rejected. So what happens when you get rejected? You try harder. ATL proposed this to them BTW.

Is this guy a reliable source?

Assuming this is true, the only justification I can see is that the coaching staff has been more impressed with Kwame's progress than Bynum's. If the Lakers plan on keeping Kwame long term, they'll probably have a hard time resigning Andrew when he becomes eligible for free agency. Sasha is a better fit for the triangle than Smush is, but he didn't have confidence last year till he played well in the Phoenix series. If that carries over, Sasha is a capable starter who can stretch the defense for than Smush can.

If the Lakers offer Bynum as part of their package, then Atlanta should do it. With the team they currently have constructed, Bynum could be a success there.

I would need to see what the coaching staff has seen of Sasha and Kwame before I can crap all over this rumor.

One question. That is not a big money offer. The Lakers will probably send the highest trade exception they can give, $3 mill. Harrington would want more I assume. What is the max value of the contract Al would be getting if this goes down?

Nobody is doubting that the Lakers may still be in the hunt for Harrington... so unless they have given up on Bynum, this just does not make sense. Also, who fills the shoes for Smush?

It just does not seem like a logical trade package... and, the "saw" is rarely right in these things... he's just getting listeners to call in with comments like these. Keeps the ratings up... heh

Socal, Phil+Lakers coaching staff said it can be possible that Odom MIGHT play pg some times so why not start him? Imagine those matchup problems.

I wouldn't play Odom at the point. The way games are called now, he would get a ton of touch fouls. I want someone more quicker than him at the point. If Smush is traded, I would start Sasha. If Farmar continues to play well, let him take over late in the season.

I figured they would, the 3 mill exception probably. That's the highest the Lakers can offer.

I thought Atlanta didn't want to get contracts in return.

Atlanta wouldnt mind those players. I am on the fence on this trade. Sure Al will help the Lakers but they do have to give up a lot, with the signing of Radmanovic, i dont see why unless they lakers want to mess up their cap situation
