Default Aldridge Trade???

Did anyone see the supposed - proposed trade in which we would send LaMarcus Aldridge to Chicago for the #1 pick, which we would use to draft Rose......I don't know, in my opinion, Oden, Aldridge and Roy are untouchable.

I kept hearing last season about comparisons between Aldridge and Rasheed Wallace......while I do see similarities, I believe LaMarcus is more dedicated to the game and much more sane than Rasheed ever was.

I would never say any player is untouchable, but I would not trade Aldridge for Rose. This team is just starting to jell. To remove a key component would simply set things back. I would still like to get Westbrook at a substantially less cost. His style would compliment Roy's + excellent defender.

However, Pritchard will certainly turn things upside down during the draft. That seems to be his M.O.

Wallace is an excellent defender and, sporadically, a good offensive player. He obviously has on-court issues and personal interaction problems.

It could end up good for us, but it isn't worth the risk. People are talking championships with our current core. What if we trade for Rose and Rose turns out to be no better than say Jameer Nelson. Would we still be looked at as future champions? Now there is the chance that Rose turns out to be exactly what we need, but if we are already on track for potential championships, don't give up a key part of it.

Where does the potential for Aldridge end though? Is he as good as he will be right now? I think he still has room to get better, after watching him develop his game and hook shot during this season.

I do think Aldridge will continue to improve for years. The thing about Rose that is intriguing is he has a chance to be a Deron Williams type player, which would be useful to our team than what I think Aldridge could be. Though, I still think it is too slim a chance that he could become that Deron Williams type player, which is why I'd rather go the safe route with Aldridge.

I think Rose will end up a slight level above Jameer Nelson but many levels below Paul and Williams.

LaMarcus will be a type of player like Rasheed Wallace with a little less post defense. He can stretch the defense with his jumper and has a good post game. Rasheed was probably a better rebounder and passer when he was LaMarcus' age as well.

I agree with your evaluation of LaMarcus, but I think Rose will be closer to Williams than he will be to Nelson. Especially on the defensive side.
