yes, Slovenia is significantly better than PR and China. They should be the first yardstick in determining just how strong or weak our team is. Slovenia has the ballhandling, shooting, athleticism, and zone defense that will test Team USA's ability and composure.
I'll probably watch it. Not only to watch the US kick ass, but also to see how well Beno Udrih is doing (I'm assuming he'll play). Chris Paul and Kirk Hinrich should be a tough matchup for him... Will also be first time I see the Rasho play since he was traded. Hear he's not doin too bad.
What are Slovenia's strengths? Who are their best players?
Slovenia is a strong team. Led by Beno Udrih, Bostjan Nachbar, Primo Brezec, and Rasho Nesterovic, they have a lineup of experienced players who are best in the international setting.
They are a great shooting team, good ball handling, will play zone against the US. Expect to see the pressure defense of the US be less effective since Slovenia has much better ball handling than PR or China. Also, Slovenia is young but plenty skilled in international basketball. Ball movement and the 3-pointer will be a major weapon.
